Tank Killers and Ranger Heavy Weapon Squad Question

Am I correct that you upgrade Battle Grenadiers to Tank Killers by paying 3AP?

And

You upgrade the Combat Ranger Squad to Rangers Heavy Weapon Squad by paying 3AP?

I guess what is confusing is the way they worded the upgrade on Page 94, by adding the word additional.

Yes, you're correct. I'm guessing they use the word "additional" because the units already have one anti-tank weapon, so you're adding an additional one to the squad.
