And who are you running? :)

By Viewtiful_Joe, in UFS General Discussion

After seeing the lack of Talbain's in major tournaments, and more importantly, the amount of comments made about this fact, I decided to see who people ARE running instead. I had a topic of this nature over in the old forums, but that was in solid Block 2, and a lot of people have moved over to Block 3 instead and a lot of new characters have come out since then. I don't think people aren't running Talbain because they're "scared of diversity" as such, but maybe just don't really want to run him in favour of a character they like more. so how are you all playing and who are you all running these days?

I'm currently running an All/Fire Alex:: deck in Block 3 format after having just dismantled my Water Morrigan deck because of being unable to beat my boyfriends Chun-Li and my housemates Victor. I've yet to play either of these decks with Alex, but I'm pleased with him through testing against other players and I'm hopeful. :D I'm also in the process of rebuilding my previous Donovan deck, but off Order/Water rather than solid Order.

At the moment I have

Nagase - Order Control

Chun Li - Water Hybrid

Elena - Good Aggro

Kyoshiro - Order/Chaos Aggro

Well I for one am still running the werewolf terrorist himself, he's one of those decks that you really need to learn to play as and against if your going to consistently stop him. beyond that i'm running earth/life control leona, void aggro hsien ko, all/chaos balrog and mentally unstable chaos temujin. always on the lookout for the next great degenerate idea.

Air Felicia at the mo, but I want to spruce her up a little bit and make her a bit more competitive at top tier

Also, have wanted to play Jivatma fer a LOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG time, and with the new Basara stuff HELLO!!! Recently ran him at a Weapon Attacks only tourney and did OK, just needs that leetle bit maor tweakage.

Right now I'm fiddling around with Tri-Symbol Kyoshiro, Tri-Symbol Lillith, Talbain, Possible water Donovan.

I'm using Water Hybrid Chun-Li.

Chaos Big Beats Hsien-Ko.

Life CC Hax Nakoruru.

And a fun Earth/Life Single Wing Slam OTK with Yuri.

I'm only building B3 deck right now, though with some regionals being B2 I'll need to practice that as well.

Some of your regionals are block 2?

plain ole chun li beats for me

Dunno.

What'll probably happen is I'll toss away a good deck for whatever I feel can win me a tourney, only to find out it sucks on the day of the tourney. I can't even say : "Oh I'm fiddling with X character" because I haven't built anything successful in months (others would argue years).

A lot of my players are messing around with different evil decks like Hanzo and Jivatma I want to see him work with his asset at the SCC.

There's one of the 1st of March, it's being held as a block 2 tournament, most of the other I believe will be block 3.

lets see

Im running

Life Reversal Ruru

Chaos Fio

Void Ukyo

tri symbol Blanka

Name says it all.

On a mission to build the perfect Hanzo deck.

Cheers

Hanzo.

Tri Symbol 3.Terry w/RSS as the finisher (I mean, B3's Busta Wolf...HAHA!)

Promo Guy built off Fire/Order control/aggro hybrid set up, although I admit that he has too many B2 cards to be played in a B3 only event at the moment. Still...

Oh, and a Mentally Unstable Makoto deck that was intended as my 'fun' deck that's turned into something a bit nastier than intended. It's support is primarily B2 only, so I'm trying to run her in some local tourneys before rotation. Woot!

hmm... well I have a lot of decks, but here are the 3 I have the highest hopes for:

tri-symbol *Q* mill - yeah, with block 3 mill pretty much dead or limited, I wanted to see how I could do with Q. if this deck actually works it will be ridiculously awesome.

Earth/Void soft lock Promo Ken - earth/void soft lock deck. basically uses Sparring Gloves and Juni's Spiral arrow to **** my opponent's readying ability.

mono-Chaos Promo Hsien-Ko - cause she abuses Knee Gatling and Harrier Bee like nobody else.

I have a deck that's actually ridiculously nasty, and yes, it's an Order/Water deck. It's probably a lot better then all the above decks, but it's not nearly as fun.

Well, my GCC decks are still together...

Chaos Kyoshiro
All Alex (promo)
Tri-Symbol Talbain

But I think my pet projects for the time being will be Balrog, Sagat and Yoshitora. I just got Temujin, so I'll probably play around with that as well. I'm also going to go revisit Juni and Soiree, and probably Donovan and Ryu as well. I've never used the new Ibuki, though, so I may try that at some point, too.

In short - we have a regional in three months and I've no idea what I'll be running at that point xD

Just wondering why you didn't want to play talbain MG?

For what, singles?

That's easy. It's the same reason I didn't want to play anyone else off of Order - I'd loaned out my BRT and Chester's xD

Ah ok i see that sucks would have been awesome if you would have won good luck at your next regionals man .

Block 3- J. Talbain- tri-symbol

Toolbox Air Control- A Olexa, Felcia,

Toolbox Morgan**-Good Death Fire

Akuma- Evil

Legacy- 4 symbol Mill toolbox- Voldo::, Dhalsim::, Hugo*

wild wolf Terry on All. punchpunchpunch. about 23 attacks, and still undefeated after 3 tournies. (all 2-0, and 1-1 draw vs chunli)

builds in progress: hugo, chunz, potatoes

Right now I got 2 different 9dot Chun-lis, Andrew Olexa, and Remy. I am working on a chaos Kim but my local regional has me putting this deck on hold for now. I miss building Vega decks though.

Nothing yet really, because I want something interesting to play, something that's viable, works, and mostly, something that doesn't necessarily need or rely on Spike. So, here are just some ideas...

Nakoruru - I'm considering possibly a mono-Water Nakoruru build that pretty much uses Water's awesome support (Chester's, Chinese, Program, Rejection, etc) to completely control the opponent on their turn as best as possible. As for attacks, I planned on running nothing more than Father Bull (which, duh, used as an asset primarily), Stardust Drop, and Feline Spike. I might possibly run more reversals, or different ones, but the point will basically be, "If you attack, you'll have your turn ended. If you don't, I'll kill you on my turn." So we'll see how that goes.

Zangief - As boring as Zangief is, if there's one thing winning Earth patch taught me, it's that his reduction is busted. His reduction enhance is easily the best reduction ever (even bigger than Rejection, more often than not). Either way, he has a 6 handsize, and the highest vitality for a 6 hander at that. He's got All and Void, two really good symbols, and Earth for some cool attacks, as well as a nasty stacker. I haven't decided which direction to take him yet, but I'm considering some sort of All toolbox that can utilize draw support to break his E.

Yoshitora - Either pure Air or maybe even Air/Good. Yoshitora's enhance IS control; until Lord of the Makai gets banned, every attack that gets played will lead to a committed foundation of my choice. His second enhance is broke with Mysterious Stance.

Iori - I just read Iori and noticed the word "after" a control check is made. As such I'm considering probably a Fire Iori, using as much control as he has access to (Manifest and Rivals), with other stuff like White Magic.

That's all for now.

hugo all/earth tank with sardines beach special.

taki air 30 atack fun deck.

promo bishamon mill off earth

4 atack fire akuma

and something fun and expen$ive for the regional in 2 months.

I am currently running:

Dan2, currently in Void Patch form.

Adon4, my posterboy of the "Counter-Control" style that I have recently discovered.

Balrog6, a deck I'm just toying around with at the moment, but I'm not pleased.

Themed Hugo4, which was intended to be for my little brother, it turned out to be a lot better than expected! Gigas Breaker + Fight or Flight / Hugo's support + Valuable Experience = pain, brother!

Ideas in the making:

Kula2: Played this girl in the "Here comes a New Challenger!" tournament where we were forced to play a character that was different to our normal style of play, and came 2nd. She's possibily going to be my Regionals deck.
