1/35 scale buildings suitable for Dust Tactics?

By Siouxfire, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

I found some amazing models at 1/35 scale ( www.ebay.co.uk/sch/fogmodels/m.html ) and I'm wondering if they'll fit with Dust Tactics. Considering the variation in the scale of the figures, I'm optimistic but thought I'd see what you lot thought.

No, definately not. 1/35 models are about 54mm/2" tall, way to big for Dust tactics 1/48 scale.

****. I was hoping the building might be alright. In that case, I'll have to work from scratch.

I never saw any buildings on the site, just loads of miiatures. You may get away with some buildings depending on the design and size of the windows and doors.

I would suggest looking at GF9's(Gale Force 9) battlefield in a box line. They are made of plaster and come prepainted. just make sure it is not the Flames of War line, because those might be a little small gui%C3%B1o.gif . Some GW stuff might fit like the craters set.

Yeah the 1/35 is too big but try O Scale train building on ebay.

Ditto on the GF9, good price, well detailed BOTH SIDES, painted and well made. As to the photo, you really need to see one first hand and compare with a mini, but I doubt if a generic house would be ok for DT.

In my experience, 1:35 Scale Buildings work great for Dust. Although they are not technically in scale, you must take into consideration that the Dust models are heroic sized, not true 1:48 (Especially the weapons) and are mounted on bases. So a 1:48 building would feel really small, 1:35 gives enough room to play and put the models on. Hope that helps!

Thanks. Given that testimony plus this thread ( www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp ) where BulldogUK is painting those very models, I think I'm going to give it a go. They're cheap enough that I can try one out and as you say for gameplay, it's probably useful to be slightly bigger.

Thanks! Those look great.

I have put together quite a few of them now mainly in preperation for Warfare. Added card floors, etc. Really easy and quick (surprisingly theraputic too compared to the normal figure work I do!) Have been known to assemble and paint 4 or 5 buildings in an afternoon and by fixing the floors a little higher than they should be figures can look fine and much more scaled shooting out of the windows. Purposely left floor spaces empty for practical use, can't stand spending most of the time trying to balance figures on bits of rubble and junk! If your not too fussy and want to save a mint the 1/35 buildings are the way to go IMHO ;)
