Put into play and Shadow

By Ikaros, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi.

I've searched for this question and found nothing, I hope not to create a duplicate question..

Anyway..

Can an effect - that "put into play" a card - put directly into play a card with the Shadow crest? In the Shadows rules, I've found nothing against this, so I think I can do it, but it seems a bit strange to me. Maybe I've missed a line..

With the plot "On Raven Wings" (for example), I can put Pyromancer's Apprentice directly into play without passing through Shadows...

Thanks

Short answer, yes. You can use "put into play" effects on Shadow cards.

The rules say Shadow cards can only be "played" into Shadows. When you use a "put into play" effect, you are not playing the card, so the limitation on only being able to "play" a card into Shadows does not apply. Using a "put into play" on a Shadows card does not, therefore, violate any rule.

Thank you :)
