On Saturday finally played BSG after having it since Christmas. First off I really enjoyed the game and seems like my group did too. We played 4 players and in the first game I got a feeling my friend to my right was a Cylon, just the way he was suggesting things and the way the skill cards were coming out. Nothing 100% obvious on the skill checks but the colors that were negative tended to be his. I told everyone what I thought and then we hit the sleeper phase. I got sympathizer but we were in the red so just thrown in the brig. The next turn ended up with the ability to look at one loyalty card so I looked at the guy on my right and sure enough the one card I looked at was a Cylon. Everyone else believed me but it was the frakking cylons turn next, so he revealed before we could throw him in the brig. After that things went downhill. Several heavy raiders showed up and one managed to board the ship. Crisis cards kept flipping with the heavy raider symbol and then the cylon went to the location to activate fleet and chose heavy raider which finished us off, with 2 people having failed in the armory. Afterward the cylon said he got the card during the sleeper phase but who can trust a frakking cylon?
Second game went wrong from the get go. I was the President and the player to my left who was first was Zarek. Very first action he did was to go call an election, which to me screamed Cylon! So we used a number of cards to keep me as President and in retrospect I should have suggested leaving it in the hands of Destiny and convince no way to put cards in. So short on cards we failed the first crisis and for several turns failed. At one point two Zarek and I were out of cards and the other two players put in on a skill check. Red was a bad color and 3 red turned up so we were certain at least one of those 2 was a Cylon. Zarek on my left went and tried to throw the player on his left into the brig but he screwed up badly. He broke secrecy rule and said he accidently put in the wrong color and that he was looking at the brig and the colors to get out. So it turned out the player we tried to throw into the brig was indeed the Cylon. On her turn she revealed and we lost another morale. We were down to 2 morale, the next couple of turns we lost another morale and then it was back to the Cylon who activated her super crisis and cost us our final morale.
Today I went and re-read the rules and only caught one thing for sure and one I think we did wrong. First we stripped the President title when I got thrown into the brig and after the re-read that was wrong. Second thing is where my question comes in. On our second game the only military leader chosen was Helo. Since he starts off the board we didn't give him the Admiral title, but after looking over the setup I think he should have been the Admiral? Is this right which means no nukes for at least a full turn?
