Miniatures quality, army bundles and some ramblings...

Y'know oDESGOSTO, you could try buying a box or two of Dust miniatures, to see for yourself what they are like/if they are as bad as you think they are. Heck, if your order from Miniaturemarket.com a box of Armor 2 troops will only put you down $10-$12. Not a bad price!

Just a thought…

That's probably what I'll do.

I've read the Review about the SSU troops, saw the bended MG and read the whole text. That is an issue that I have but can be resolved by tasting some miniatures myself.

I would like people here to remember that I'm a hobbyist. And when I buy some figs I want to buy quality. That's why I don't buy Finecrap stuff, that's why I got rid of most WH: Fantasy stuff and stop playing it.

As for that Dust Tactics core set super-discounted-bargained-offer and the idea I would have two games to play and so forth… I told you, I don't want to play D:T, I want to play D:W. I don't care anything about D:T and never got my eyes on it once before the D:W game was announced. And I only want to play D:W because it's a good game wrote by an expert designer that knows what gamers want. It could be Dust, could be AT-43, heck could even be some Android based universe or something else… I could care less about the Dust theme. I've read it, I liked it, it's not the best thing in the world, I think the WWII is over satured, Weird War has also been done in Secrets of the Third Reich and some other Pulp projects… I want to enjoy the game (as in rules).

For this to happen I need to have good miniatures and a solid start .
Good miniatures in my standart is something in the likes of Warlord Games plastics, Perry Plastics, Victrix and such. Things like Wargames Foundry meets my lowest standart. Things like GW and Warmachine meets my highest standart.
As Romeo from BattleFoam said in that interview on the D6G, I couldn't care less if the miniatures come already primed and with some stickers on them. I want quality, not lazyness. If I'm feeling lazy I'll give commission work to my friends, painting or just cleaning moldlines, I'd pay for that, already done it before so… One cool thing is that you can pay-and-play with this game. That's cool. But I would happily trade the priming and sticking on the figs since I will do it again if I want to do a good paint job.

A solid start means a one-purchase-to-play. People refered to Warmachine 2P Box that only came out after all these years but they started their business with Starter Faction Boxes, as recently others did: Infinity, Dystopian Wars, Firestorm Armada, Heavy Gear Blitz, just to name some.
With the introduction of Platoon level in this game (comparing to D:T Squad Level), what FFG should have done to support the rulebook was some Starter Boxes Platoon Level. For example, giving some Axis Grenadiers Starter Box with some squads of Grenadiers that should build one Platoon right away. They could do this in several levels, one even covering the issue I've mentioned before and offering a Box with Gorillas and that Character from the expansion in it. Some Zombie bundle for players that would like to make an all Zombie army.

Is this that difficult?! Of course it isn't! But what people say here is that buying multiple 5 men boxes to build an army is cheaper than buying a 20 men box that actually is an army.

Don't make me as an ignorant. I know GW stuff is overpriced and that's one of the reasons I've quit supporting their games. But buying the same number of miniatures (I'm not comparing list number, just miniature numbers) in either system doesn't make one much cheaper than other. Just do the math…

And looking at the other topic I've mentioned I guess FFG is learning from GW's arrogance… good, keep their game! :(
