Arkham Horror Gameplay Youtube Channel

By MythosGamer, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hey everyone! I just started a Youtube page dedicated to Arkham Horror gameplay. I know there are some great tutorial videos already up but no gameplay videos. Hopefully this will help people who are new to AH. Ive already posted the first half of my first game. Im going to finish it and prob post at least 2 more games using only the base set. After that im going to start adding in expansions and changing things up. As I put up more videos Im going to be working on increasing the quality of production (its a little tough to make an organized video with a game as big as AH lol). Please let me know what you think and I encourage constructive critism. Thanks guys!

I watched the first one and thought it was pretty good aside from some focus issues on the close ups and the camera being a little shaky. Don't worry about mispronouncing names since I doubt anyone else would do any better.

Saw the whole thing and liked it alot, aside from some mistakes I pointed out, but Arkham Horror is a complex game so it's easy to overlook things, especially if you're playing solo.

Please don't take this wrong. You are making a valiant attempt. But...too much close up, and too much shakey, out of focus camera. Back out so we get a sense of the board, it also reduces shake. Cut to your closeup of the text. I know you're playing alone, but the only way to do this right is to stop and start the camera 100 times and edit it together. The only practical way to do this is to have someone else on the camera, this way you can get around making cuts--it's too hard for you to hold the camera while moving your pieces around.

I like very much hearing your thoughts and ideas as you play, but I just find this kind of video unwatchable.

Nevermind. I thought I could delete this post.

In turn six during the monster surge, you needed to spread the monsters evenly with no gate having more than where the surge occured--The Graveyard. There should have been two monsters there (though I lost track of your other gates.)

Thanks for the feedback guys! I agree the camera shaking was a huge problem. I started my 2nd game and halfway through the first turn I started filming it a little diff so that there is no shakiness from the camera. Unfortunatelly there isnt anyone to hold the camera while I move the pieces. I plan on getting a new camera soon to deal with the issues from not being able to zoom in and out as much as I like. Now that Ive got the first game under my belt Im getting some ideas on how to improve the production quality. Also the way Im filming it from here on out Im put on the spot alot less so I have more time to pay attention to what Im doing and hopefully make alot less mistakes. Thanks again guys!

I do want to tell you I enjoying watching a game in progress and yours is the best attempt I've seen. Though not always clear I can see and understand everything you're doing.

Turn 9 around 7:30 brings up that great apparent contradiction in the rules: Page 22, "Monsters In Encounters." The first paragraph says monsters always go back to the cup, even if the investigator defeats the monster.

The second paragraph says the player may take the monster as trophy. The second paragraph is written as if the first paragraph wasn't written. I've never got this.

It is really confusing the way it is written but the easiest way to remember it is if its only a monster you can kill it. If you dont it goes away. If its a gate and a monster then they both stay no matter what. I think of it as the monster needs the gate to stay in our world otherwise its like a ghost, its only here for a brief moment. Hope that helps happy.gif

Just started on your game one video and am really getting a lot out of them as someone new to Arkham Horror, although I did play some Call of Cthullu RPG way back when. I am trying to catch up with the videos but it may take a while due to time constraints. In terms of the videos themselves, could you possibly edit out the parts where you are bringing the card image into focus so that it isn't blurry for a few seconds. I think that this would greatly improve the watchability of the videos. Generally though very good and useful videos, keep up the good work.

Thanks! Glad theyre helping! On my newer videos I dont start recording untill every thing is in focus. Makes me wish I could go back and redo my older videos lol
