Does Ellaria Sand's ability trigger after renown? So, if an opponent wins a challenge and claims power for renown, could I take it with Ellaria, or does Ellaria trigger first, making me take power from a different character? Thanks!

Passives (like Renown and Deadly) will trigger before Responses, so Ellaria could steal a freshly-won Renown power.

Essentially correct. One minor nitpick though: Renown is not awarded with the passives, it is awarded as a Framework event, which means it comes *before* passives. In almost all cases, this doesn't make a difference, but it can.
Example:
3 player game.
Player A sits at 14 power and has attached a copy of In the Name of the King to Player B's house card, which lets him claim 1 power as a passive effect each time Player B wins a MIL challenge.
Player B also has 14 power. He wins an opposed MIL challenge against Player C with a Renown character.
If getting Renown was passive, the First Player would have to decide whether the Renown or the effect of In the Name... came first, and which player wins the game.
As it is, Renown comes first, though. Player B wins the game.
Now, just for fun, let's assume the situation is slighly different. Let's say Player B is at 13 power, and the character he wins the MIL challenge with is CS Bob. Renown is awarded, which brings Player B to 14 power. But Bob's ability is passive. That means that in this case, it is the FP who decides which passive goes off first - In the Name of the King (which would make Player A the winner) or Bob's effect (which would let Player B win the game).
I'm just mentioning this because CS Bob's ability is often referred to as "double renown", which it, technically, is not.
You're right - that is an important distinction!
