Refresh at start of the Final Battle

By rdw5150, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hello!

I am assuming not, but do the investigators SAN and Stamina max out before the fight with the AO?

Peace

Roger

another question...

if an investigator is pulled through a gate in the Mythos phase, he will have two encounters in the Other World before he returns, correct?

-stand up>Encounter

-move to other side of other world>Encounter

Thanks

To your first question: no. Your sanity and stamina are what they are when the AO awakens. Also note that Cthulhu's special ability remains active during Final Combat; you don't get your 1 point of maximum sanity and stamina back, which gives you only 7 rounds to defeat him.

To your second question: yes, that is how events should unfold if you're drawn through during Mythos. If you're drawn through a new gate as the result of an Arkham Encounter "A gate appears!" then you can expect to have three encounters. However, OW encounters may increase or decrease the number of encounters you have before you return.

I'm going to say that your Sanity/ Stamina do go back to normal with Big C...so you do have 9 rounds..."ya know the whole slumber bit" so he's slumbering and awake at the same time! partido_risa.gif

This is not correct. Cthulhu's effect is game long, including Final Battle. Thw whole "slumbering" thing is just artistic license and has no effect on gameplay. This is actually kown as the "Power" and is called out on page 19 as a game long effect.

So you still typically have only 7 rounds to deal with Cthulhu. The only way you get more or less is if you have Allies or other things affecting max/min san/sta.

If Cthulhu's power didn't work during the final battle then neither would Azathoth, Eihort, Glaaki, Shub-Niggurath and Shudde M'ell and that is just wrong.

Exactly. Brian and I agree that it is in place during Final Combat with Cthulhu, so you don't get back your ordinary maximums when you do battle with him.

Right, Tibs and I are in agreement. Your last statement and penultimate statement are not in agreement with each other.
