Default size for playing surface?

By Kommissar Zeitsev, in Dust Warfare

Do we know what the default/standard size will be for playing surfaces?

4'x4'?

6'x4'?

8'x4'?

Other?

It depends greatly on the size of the game you are playing I would say anything in the lower then 200 points can probably be played on a 4'x4' table other wise most competitive level games will probably take place on the 4'x6' style familiar with people who play 40K

Out of the book:

200 AP or less - 48" x 60"

201-400 AP - 48" x 72"

401+ AP - 48" x 96" or larger

Though, I would assume you would play on what you have available. My guess is that they went with 4x6 for tournaments because most game stores already cater to 40k/WFB and have that size on hand.

Well I have 4'x4', 6'x4', and 8'x4' game tables in my own gameroom, but for purposes of making some terrain sets themed to Dust, it is helpful to know what kind of area you have to think about filling/covering...

It is also written into the rules (for competitive play) to cover 25% of the table with terrain. Of course, for friendly games, you could use more or less.

There are also some special terrain types which have additional rules (and specific sizes) like trenches, barbed wire, barricades, and tank traps.

There are rules for fortifications as well, correct?

Yeah, that's what all of those are. Plus minefields, but those are represented by a counter, and not a piece of terrain.

Very cool, thanks.

Also, "Dug In" (hard cover until you move) and camoflage are fortifications.

Very useful info to know, thanks.
