Axis ZOMBIE army?

By LotusPwn3r, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

Has anyone ever tried playing a full-on Axis zombie horde, like at least five to eight squads (150 AP to 250 AP) in one game against a mixed Allied army?

I think we might try it tomorrow night with a bunch of 5-squad genestealers since we don't have nearly enough DT minis to go full scale...

So has anyone out there in Dust Land tried "The Night of the Living Dead"-type scenario? If so, what was the general result? My feeling is that a zombie horde might need a little armor support... gui%C3%B1o.gif

Oh, you missed your window, man! You should have done that on this Friday the 13th!

BTW, if you're looking to augment your Zombie hordes, maybe the upcoming Zombicide boardgame could be of help. It will come with a whopping 65 zombie figures of different types!

I'm just about an hour too late in my part of the world, Loopy!

And I've often thought about augmenting the DT zombie minis with stuff from other games.

So a zombie horde is not that bad of an idea? With Fast & the anti-walker capabilities, it looks good on paper -- but you know what they say about the best laid battle plans... preocupado.gif

Is Zombicide 1/48th?

They're 32mm scale, which is pretty close (just a tiny bit bigger than 1:48.)

Yeah, 32mm, considering that Dust is Heroic 28mm and the sizes vary greatly, they'd fit right in (I've just compared the axis zombies to Grendier X, and it's ridiculous how small he is compared to them).

I think a fleet of zombies (with a couple zombie heroes attached) would be a formidable army, especially if your opponent didn't know that was your plan.

I think certain units would do well against them though - Grim Reapers for instance, that have speed and range, would be a good counter against them, and Hammers + Rhino would mean your zombies take as much damage as they give (although it would be the same for the Hammers). And if the board is fairly open, anything with range will have a turn or two to get some shots in before the zombies can get their attacks in.

But I would not want to face a full hoard zombies - I think it would be a tough army to beat, as they are quite tough and possibly a little underpriced as well.

They're an all or nothing force for the most part. We've had a couple at our shop and we had literally a full army of zombies (no heroes) at Dust Day yesterday. As was stated above, there are a lot of good allied units that can deal with them, but they are scary good and fast.
