Bound creature vs Banish

By LrdVampyre, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

The rules in the main book are not very clear on this point, but what happens when one person calls forth a bound elemental and then another person succeeds in banishing it?

My first thought is that the creature is returned to the item it is bound to and cannot be re-summoned for a period of time yet it is just as likely that the creature is completely banished entirely.

Thoughts?

I rule in my game that the banished creature is sent inside the binding item and cannot be released for a number of days equal to how well you did on the banishing roll according to what the book says (I believe it's 1 day for every 10 points over the banishing difficulty)

I have a PC who contacts Order of Yehudah by summoning "Something bound by the order of Yehudah" suffering the -50 penalty to summon for 'doesn't know type of creature', give it a message, then banish it.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an expert on summoning. The following assumes I know what I am talking about, which may not be true.

Unlike with Control or Bind there is no 'counter' to Banish. If someone Banishes a creature it is returned to the soul flow rather it is Controlled, Bound, or whatever. If you are in combat and see someone trying to Banish your Bound creature (which is fairly obvious as it requires a ritual) you can return it to the object it is bound in. This is the point of Bind, while it is in its "pokeball" it is immune to all other attempts to Summon, Control, Bind, Banish or affect it in any way. If you bring it out of the "pokeball" it is fair game for all Summoners/Wizards/etc who know of it.

Actually Banish and Summon can be used to counter themselves and each other, Control can only be used to counter itself.

I'm looking through Summoning and cannot find this, do you know where it is written?

pg177 Opposing Abilities middle paragraph. Here, I'll just paste you the paragraph.

When characters use Summoning Abilities against each
other, they can pit summon against either itself or banish, and
vice versa. Control, however, can only oppose itself.

Found it, your right. Well that puts a hole in my theory...Still think Bind won't stop a Banish... happy.gif

I would say, you can banish a bounded creature, if it is materialized, because on page 177 under Bind is written "Furthermore, when a bound creature is inside its container, it is completely immune to other summoning abilities. When a summoner wants to affect a being bound inside an artifact, he must wait for the being to materialize in the real world."

So, I would say: The Binding is broken and the creature is banished as usually.

So long,

Way I (house) rule it. You can only affect creatures that are materalized. If you roll a successful banish check, the creature is banished back to their bound object. If you roll a banish check that can banish the creature AND is higher than the original bind check you just straight up banish the creature back to where it came from.
