Problem with Sister Hospilater (Blood of Martyrs)

By Maese Mateo, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

This altrnative career rank doesn't say if at Rank 2+ you advance as a Cleric or Adept. While the text says at the start "All starting skills, talents, gear and wealth listed here replace the Eank 1 adept listing...", that's also true for Sister Famulous and they are Clerics, so I just assumed that the text was copypasted, so it doesn't really say if the Sister Hospilares is or not an Adept.

Hmmm, I am not really sure where I read this, but I am fairly confident she follows the adept path.

I will find the rule for you- but until then, you should go with that.

Thanks, I'll wait until you find it.

Both Order Hospitaller and Order Famulous are alternate Adept Rank 1 advances.

I suppose you mean Sister Dialogus, not Famulous, because Sister Famulous says: "Starting Rank: Rank 1 (Replaces Cleric Rank 1 on page 62 of the Dark Heresy Rulebook)."

Where do you get that Sister Hospitaler is an Adept? I'm not saying you are wrong, just that the book doesn't say.

Doh! Yes, I meant Sister Dialogus.

I am basing my opinion that Hospilater is an Adept on the first sentence "...replace the Rank 1 Adept..." and the last sentence "...may not purchase Psy Rating advances...".

Sister Famulous have both texts has well and they are Clerics. The "...replace the Rank 1 Adept..." was copy-pasted to the three splats, and Sister Famulous also have the restriction of not been able to get Psychic Powers. That's why, unfortunately, doesn't really make it 100% clear that they are Adepts (the text could just be copy-pasted like in the Sister Famulous page and they may be Clerics).

The only reason I think they should be Adepts is that they get Medicae +10 while Clerics don't (at least if the Sistr Hospitaler takes the Chyrurgeon Rank). Even then, I found retarded that the highly specialized nurse nuns never get Medicae +20 and they have to purchase it as an Elite Advance. They should have just spend a couple more pages and give each non-militant sister full advancements charts just like the Battle Sister, instead of making them Alternative Ranks.

Hrm... good points...

On Sister Dialogous it says that you replace all the Adept Starting stuff with stuff listed below, and that your new starting rank replaces the Adept Rank 1...

On Sister Famulous it says that you replace all the Adept stuff again, but your starting rank replaces Cleric Rank 1 (Confusing, which is it? If I had to guess, Cleric?)

On Sister Hospitaller, it says that you replace the Rank 1 Adept stuff, like all other "Alt-Sisters", but doesn't say anything about replacing a rank... nor does it say anything about which career is required for the alternative rank (If I had to guess, it's adept, but you don't have to bee Rank 1 to take the rank, you could take it later if you so wish?)

All and all, they are confusing, due to bad wordings and such. On later books, like Daemon Hunter and Book of Judgement, the Alternative Ranks clearly say what career you have to be and which rank. Even earlier books did this, like Inquisitor's Handbook and Radical's Handbook. To add to this confusion, the regular alternative career ranks for guardsmen and such listed before, clearly tell us what career and rank...

It is probably adept. Consider that the Adept career is basically the only one with dedicated Medicae skill. There are others that have some medicae, but they don't have access to Master Chirurgeon or Medicae +20 [iirc, Guardsman might have it, but a Hospitaller is obviously not a Guardsman.] If there is ever a question, just go with Adept, it has the Medicae skills you need to correctly build a Hospitaller.

Sorry for the intrusion e for my very bad english. I have a problem with my Sister Hospitaller pg, the Gear! I can buy my gear or i follow this rule of Sister of Battle?

"A Battle Sister does no care for personal wealth, when she is able she will happily….." page 80 Blood Of Martyrs.

Ok the Hospitaller is a Adept for the carrier sheet but too the gear? In short word the Sister Hospitaller not is one Sister of Battle?

Hospitallers are not Sisters of Battle at all in any way. Neither are Dialogous nor Famulous. Ignore the Sisters of Battle section enitirely for the Hospitaller; she is an Adept in all respects but the Rank 1 skills and talents and gear.

+1

Non-Militant Sisters have a regular income (described on their description in BoM) and can purchase equipment as usual.

Battle Sisters don't because it's a balance factor since they already get the best armour and weapons available automatically and can go to any church to get more ammunition, food or a place to sleep. They have little to no interest in anything else.

Ok, thanks for the replic! Time for buy gear and weapons now!!!
