Marshall Greene - well, new version of Jerry Holland. Playable.

with a fine..... - we have seen it before. And it was discussed already.

And the shub support... well, I like the picture. I don't like the cost. For 1, even 2. So you could search for a good character to put into your hand.

But for 3 - give me hungry dark young with Nyarly any day. My bet is, that card supposed to be a nice combat trick, but unless you go for cards like black spawn from below or ghoul khanum, well, Im not convinced. And it's only shub characters. So it's limited. For a plus - it searches for Ygolanac. So..

But you put it into play first, then put it into your hand. It's like a temporary Shocking Transformation that doesn't need an additional sacrifice... It's pretty good...

actually you sacrifice a 3-cost support card.

and, for example, against cthulhu or agency the character that you have searched for may not live long enough to reach your hand.

Well, compared to ST, where you sacrifice a "shocking transformation" and a character, it isn't bad. If the worst thing is you draw a removal card, well... And Shocking Transformation doesn't make it less likely to be targeted by removal. If anything, if your character is liable to die anyway, then Porch is better than Shocking Transformation, since it only costs one card, not two...

all 3 of those cards are pretty neat. under the porch is awesome for ancient ones.

I know some are bashing the spoiled cards from the upcoming APs

and they have thier reasons. With very few exceptions I am quite impressed

by what I've seen. I've made the choice to push the ol' RESET button, leaving the past

behind and to move forward with the hope of drawing new players into the fold.

Not to worry though, I haven't suddenly been transformed into a total fanboy.

I will always remain critical and outspoken but I must admit Nate has set the

hook and with each revealed card it gets deeper. I hope many of the old school

competitive players can roll with the punches. happy.gif

Under the Porch is way cool. Cost 3 Shub - Gazam! And sets your hand up for HDY if Character Under the Porch survives the round.

Marshall Greene, Lover. MU Prof Morgan (cost 5 skill 3 CAI) and G-Men (you should know by now) are the only other characters with Willpower and Toughness. At a comparatively cheap cost 3, he's worthy, just looks a little basically cop-ish. But that can be a bane for a few Agency characters. He does have that Arkham Edition look to him. And he's beefed up with attributes.

"With a Fine Toothed Comb" (cost 2) the second Research card, after Unearthing the Core. Now it's a genre. For Neutral investigate boost: Mystical Allure and Miskatonic Antiquities Collection both cost 1, but lack the surprise of an event.

I wonder if the story line will feel strong through six asylum packs. Perhaps it's all - Rusty Swingset, Shoved in a Locker, Helter Skelter, School Nurse, Sneaker Floating Downstream - for plot related cards.

Marshall "Lover Al" Greene is also the first government. investigator.

And maybe that's a mi-go brain case under Julia's magnifying glass. We're due for a mi-go. And a playable yithian.

And wait! "With a Fine Toothed Comb" adds an Investigate struggle at all three stories. That's a bum rush. And sneaky. This neutral makes the investigate boost MU deck. Still, I don't think the professors sneak by. They never really rush by. They get pinged early and late. That killer MU Investigate card is still out there. I could see a mi-go comb over.

Beneath the Porch looks very good, in a mixed border environment: search your deck, put into play and bounce to hand all rolled in one card sounds good to me. The comment in the preview is quite off the mark. This card is not good because it threatens your opponent -in white border, the fattest char Shub can shock into play is ehrr, small ghouls?-, but because it is another starter for the old but good Shub-whatever chain of searches -mixed borders, obviously-.

Marshall Greene (Greene, Brown, another three color chars and we get the Power Rangers) Is a step in the right direction but misses the widely acknowledged fact that 3+ cost chars are played for their abilities. While +willpower seems good, you have to consider that chars that need willpower to be effective will be sitting ducks before he gets into play.

The Comb: useless. Rush should use big domain to put out low cost high-quality chars, control should not bother with adding situational cards.

Overall, this preview shows much more quality than Zann's. I hope this new ratio of one hit, one near miss, one useless card is maintained throughout the sets.

Don't have my cards on hand - can the Porch be combined with the Shub who returns everyone from discard piles?

In mixed borders yes.
In white only no.

[HS/ON) I've seen what was written at the end of the article ... And .... that's Sweet, there's a Chess PRODIGY (not really the same word as mine, but hey, I got an avatar in the game !!!!

Youehhhhhhhh !!! gran_risa.gif [HS/OFF]

Well, Carioz, Miska rush is a good choice, and the opportunity to resolve a story with Open for Inspection + FienTooth is really affordable T2. In mixed mode, you shouldplay this +seduction and let go ..... to victory !

These look pretty good to me. I think I'm more impressed with these previews than with the last ones.

No, Prodigee, Miskatonic rush wasn't a good choice in white and black even when rituals were around (rituals made rushing possible with almost any faction). I don't know in white only, but in mixed 3x Miskatonic rush has no way to deal with anything (direct wounding, combat, terror, you name it, it kills them).

Wow wow, got to admit Under the Porch looks very good! EE Shub is a great target as is big GK, HDY... That's the kind of card I like! Good job. The Agency character is also above the current character level, so that's good. Competitively thinking won't get deck space, but that's ok. The investigation event may be okay... no surprise element is a huge minus though. Still I don't think it's entirely useless.

In League play those are all good cards I guess. You can "shock" in a Small Ghouls or HDY with UtP.

From the article:

"Creative Developer Dan Clark brought the Marshall Greene character to life when he dreamed up the more than apt sub-title, “Too Old For This....” "

Does this mean there's a new member in the (rather small) developer team?

I like all three of them. Very flavorful.

Chick

I like them. Greene looks suitably solid and dependable. I think that blanket protection like that can certainly be useful. With a Fine Toothed Comb could be powerful, but the restriction on playing it before characters are committed does really hamper it's powerlevel. I'm willing to try it out and see how it goes, though. Under the Porch though is certainly the best of the three. The AGOT version of this location was an absolute powerhouse and could do some pretty nasty things. I'm sure that this will be capable of much the same, though I'm pleased to see the Shub restriction on the character that you go get.

Hey, I'm happy with Under the Porch. I'm just starting, but I like playing Shub and with the Monster/Ancient One reducers this can essentially become a Search card for my deck if nothing else. Or, i can grab Shub himself for some needed heavy in the early game. Or my Mi-gos (the main reason I want to buy multiple Core Sets).

It is true that Marshall Greene, Julia's sometime lover, is very similar to Agent Jerry Holland.

For both, all characters committed to the same story gain willpower. Both are unique, heroic, willpower, 2 combat government agency. For the added one cost - three, Greene gives you Investigate, Toughness, plus one skill 3 investigator. Worth it? For the toughness maybe.

There are only five tough agency characters (three Arkham Edition, one Unspeakable Tales, one Eldritch). Costs 6, 3, 5, 2, 3.

Six agency characters have willpower. For cost 2 Bureau Chief (evasion ability) and Undercover Security (CI).

Is a willpower shield necessary for basic agency rush and wound? Seems helpful, but is it a distraction?

It looks like this AP is now out. As soon as someone gets a copy of The Horror Beneath the Surface, I'd be grateful to see some spoilers.

It seems that an Asylum Pack is actually going to be released each month. :o

I'd guess the packs were all printed at the same time and shipped to them together, so all that's left is sending to distributors on the X day of the month. I think there will be regular releases through AP12 at least.

We've only just got the first pack in this story arrive in my FLGS, the new one can't be out already, surely?

You're lucky, we haven't seen the first one in France. Plus the french distributor (Edge/Millenium) is already out of stock for the Core Set. It will be difficult to gain new players with a non-existing product. I heard this is because a French translation is coming. Given the terrible work that had been done with the Eldrictch block, I hope the translators won't be the same.

Yes, the new ones arrived yesterday, and are quite nice. Perhaps FFG has a fast release schedule on them to get caught up to where they wanted to be originally, what with the Core Set delays.
