Dunwich horror expansion - questions

By zubu2, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I have recently purchased first 3 expansions and decided to try them out addind one at the time to learn the rules. Here r the questions re Dunwich :)

1. on page 2 of the instruction there s a bit about AH replacement cards - namely a spell "flesh ward", a unique item "healing stone" and a common item "lantern" - it states that I should use the copies from Dunwich expansion instead of original AH - the thing is that they r exactly the same (apart from the price on the healing stone) - can it be that my AH version is already updated and the replacement cards were meant for an older version?

2. Similarly, on page 8 of Dunwich instruction there s a bit about AH rule changes / clarifications - and again I was already aware of all of them from my original AH instruction - explanation as above?

3. next questions re clue tokens - I have always treated them just like other items - i.e. I thought they were tradeable - I play mostly solo with 3 investigators and I would always send one to a gate while others would pick the clue tokens and help to seal the gate after the first one emerged from it. In Dunwich there is a condition card "coded messages" stating that investigators may trade clue tokens with other investigators in the same area during the movement phase as though clue tokens were items. And so my questions is - is it not allowed to trade clue tokens with others until this condition is in play. Or does an area mean street and its locations - therefore u could trade clue tokens with investigators not it in the same exact spot but in the same area - for example one in science building and other in a library (both part of miskatonic street)?

thanx

1. Yes, replacements in Dunwich were destined to the owners of the first press of AH base. So, you don't have to worry if they are identical to those you already possess. Not so sure why the Healing Stones are priced differently. Anyway, the correct price for HS is 8 $.

2. Yeah, same as 1

3. Nope, clues are not items. It's clearly stated in the AH rulebook (Items are: Unique Items, Common Items, Spells), and you can, for no reason, trade clues as if they were items. The Coded Message condition and a special Mythos card (cannot remember which one, sorry) are practically the only ways for Investigators to trade clues as if they were items.

The "Gossip Runs Wild!" Mythos card allows clue trading for the next turn.

Yeah, good catch Tox!

I presume it is not allowed to trade monster trophies / gate trophies either, is that right?

and what about spells - are they considered items?

Spells are items and you can certainly trade them with other Investigators

AH Manual, page 23, Trading Equipment : "An investigator in the same street area, Other World area, or location as another investigator may trade money, Common Items, Unique Items, and Spells." Without some other special circumstances in play (like Mythos cards or Coded Messages, for example), you can generally assume that if it isn't one of those four things, it can't be traded.
