Dice values

By Jack.Slater, in Doom

Hi there!

I've got these old dice in my Doom copy which tend to fade away after a while.And now the time has come ... enfadado.gif

Could anyone be so kind to tell me the different values on them?I intend to write them on the dice again.

For example: Red die -1 side miss;

1 side range 0, 1 ammo, 4 damage

2 sides and so forth ...

Thank you in forward

*=damage

number=range

a=ammo

Red: ****0a, ***1a, ***1, **2, *3, X

Yellow: 4a, *3a, *3, **2, ***1, X

Green: *1, *2, 2, 2, 3, 3

Blue: *1, **1, **0, **0, ***0, ***0

Hope I helped

Well, exactly what i meant.

Much thanks

Will FFG replace the dice is mine are faded?

is so whats the email?

Little tip to help stop dice fading. Use a laight sparay over the dice with clear model seal hope you know what i mean. Its a spray you use on your figures when there painted. Worked a trreat on my bloodbowl dice.

I spoke with Thaad last week (love that girl) and she explained that they only recently ran out of replacement dice, and has no ETA on new dice. She would contact me as soon as she got some, but who knows when that will be. My guess, if there are a lot of requests for dice, they might do one more print run.

In the meantime, use either clear nail polish or matte-sealer that you can get from any hobby modelling shop. If your dice have already faded, permanent marker, or print up on labels and stick them on the dice. BGG has some images you can use.

Or one can get an engraving pen and engrave it themselves.

I was fortunate enough to hear the warnings about this fading problem before I played too much of my copy, so I sealed them with miniature sealant and all is well. If I were in this situation myself, however, where my dice are already faded to the point of being hard to read, I would probably fix them myself by creating images of each die face on my computer and printing them out on sticker paper (which can be purchased at most supply stores like Staples.) Cut the out and stick them on, voila! If the images get worn out again I can just print off a new set!

There is many thread about fading Doom dices, and in those threads is many answers that describes how the doom dices look like. But for me there still is one big issue that should be explained.

All dices are made in some particular way. Each dice no mater wich one (the six side, ten side or 100 side) is made in way that two directly oppositvie sides gives the ammount of the max dice value plus one - so if you take the six side dice it wold be 6 + 1 = 7, 5 + 2 = 7, 3 + 4 = 7 - and like I said the same would be in other dices ( in 20 side dice it will be 21, in 8 side 9 and so on). So that can tell us tht dices are not made in random way, that same with doom dices.

So when giving the Doom dice values we should say on witch side is a particular score. Lets take six side dice and then give each walue of that dice the doom values. And it will be:

Red

1 = x

2 = 3*

3 = 1***

4 = 1***a

5 = 2**

6 = 0****a

Yellow

1 = x

2 = 3*a

3 = 2**

4 = 1***

5 = 3*

6 = 4a

Green

1 = 1*

2 = 2

3 = 3

4 = 3

5 = 2

6 = 2*

Blue

1 = 1*

2 = 0**

3 = 0***

4 = 0***

5 = 0**

6 = 1**

So in that example we can see that on blue dice the two oppositvie sides have the same score, same on green dice (there is a small exception on sides 1 and 6 in both dices). The red and yellow are not made in random way as well - red have miss and the most damage sides oppositive to each others.

I hope that someone find this important in the way as I do :) And - even more - i hope that you will understand my poor english.

Jervon thanks for posting the actual side values. If I ever needed to use labels on blank dice I would want the symbols to be in the same orientation as the orginals.

I have to say I'm surprised they ran out of extra dice. The system works so well a future project of mine was going to include them and having a dedicated set would have been nice.

FFG, please restock the DOOM Dice. This topic comes up repeatedly and many of us have faded dice or would simply like to provide more sets for our guests to use. You can put me down for at least 4 sets right away. (These come in SO handy when Deathmatching!!!)

Thank You! gui%C3%B1o.gif
