Priest's pool of favor

By Lord Rogal Dorn, in WFRP Rules Questions

When a priest casts an invocation and dedicates favor to the blessing but does not have enough to complete it, does the favor dedicated to the blessing count as being in your pool for equilibrium?

Also does it matter the order you use curry favor and a blessing in the same turn?

Thanks

you can "quick cast" with any order priest i would say

as for the favor they need to get if they dont have enough, we put the favor they already have on the belssing card and once there is enough on it the blessing resolves. that means if he put all his power in there he won't be at equilibrium anymore and therefor gain one power at the end of his turn

that's how we play it

No. It's 'on the blessing', not in the caster's pool; that way the priest gains 1 (or more) favour each turn for being below equilibrium... which is applied to the blessing automatically.

Yes.

You cast first and then curry favour. One makes the other harder to do (adds an additional challenge die), it's the opposite of magical casting (which is power first, spell second).

@Matchstickman: i know its not ON the blessing, its the way we track so its easier to follow for the player himself

but thx for clarifying the thing with the free power, it counts towards the belssing itself, that explains alot to me aswell!

Thanks for the info. That is how our group thought it would work, but we were unsure.

My question about casting and currying in the same turn is a little different from the answers I got. I was wondering if it really matters which one you do first. I feel its safer to curry after casting, but is there anything in the rules preventing you from currying first?

Yes. The Curry Favour action itself.

The Requirements for use of the Curry Favour action state...

You have successfully invoked a blessing, but have less favour than the blessing
requires.
If you are engaged with an enemy, add (1 misfortune) to your dice pool

(emphasis mine)

So you can't use it unless you already have a blessing invoked, your God is not going to just imbue you with his divine power on the off chance you might possibly invoke a blessing in the same round, it has to be for a specific prayer.

and that is also what distinguishes priests from mages. priest invoke first and curry after that and mages channel first and cast after that.

and once your casting character has a certain INT/FEL rating, quickcasting/invoking is no longer a big problem since th eoption of failure is pretty small, at least with the level 1 and 2 actoins, as far as i remember

Oh, I didn't catch that on the card, thanks for pointing it out and all your help.
