Any idea for an Heroic "Dwarf Slayer"

By Folioman, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hello.

Ok for now we have with slayers: Basic: Troll Slayer,Intermediate: Giant Slayer,Advanced: Dragon Slayer and probably,Elite: Demon Slayer. Then what? Heroic: ? Maybe the "God Slayer"! Ideas for stats, abilities are welcome.

Well...the slayer has failed to find an honourable death and thereby not redeemed his name..how about Failed Slayer.

I have done this for my campaign, just for in case that both, me (the GM) and the player, fail to fulfill our roles and the Slayer survives long enough.

i really dig the career, but why is he wearing armor? :D just kidding, i know it's just a drawing

as we have a dragon slayer in our group already we have also thought about what to do with him after he has completed that career aswell and isnt completly crippled by diseases and stuff, and believe me, i was trying, but that guy has the luckiest rolls i have ever seen.

i was hoping for him to come up with an idea to regain his honour without dying. because when you have slain all there is to slay in the old world (and he almost has!) there should be a way.

i would enjoy seeing that character in say, an ironbreaker career or anything similar...

The easy way is to let the players redo the careers, Many on these forums have suggested that players should be able to repeat a career, so that is one solution. Another idea might be to let the slayer move into other fighting careers (still beeing a slayer in the game and story of course) such as going into soldier, thug, pit fighter etc. That way the slayer gets access to skills that arn't avaliable in the slayer careers. In my games slayers are allowed to branch out into other careers, if they seem appropriate.

There is really no way to regain honor without dying as a slayer and there's always a bigger, badder monster to go after. The slayer just have to look for it. Greater Deamons for example are very varied in power, it could be something for the slayer to hunt down. Hero's Call includes powerful enemies and tools for boosting existing creatures to epic proportions. A slayer could also die fighting hundreds of skaven alone in a sewer to cover the retreat of the rest of the party. That's a good death!

Also, I suggest you talk to the player, see how he wants to die and arrange something heroic (such as the hundreds of skaven). Often the players might have pretty a good idea of how an "ideal" death would look like, especially when playing slayers. So talking to the player could yield very good ideas.

thx there, i should receivie my copy of hero's call on tuesdays, so ill have a look in there.

the only problem is, that the player does not really want to let the character die....and i dont want to kill the character he is invested with for so long now just like that. i don't think it'd be a problem if i really found a grand glorious death, but i'm just trying to see other ideas too.

but actually you're right, it's pretty clear that he won't regain his honor among the dwarf folk!

Hero's Call will probably be able to help you create epic creatures for the slayer to fight.

You might argue that Slayer is kind of the wrong career for that player. When a player wants to create a slayer I feel it should be implied that he/she wants to play a character that dies in a heroic combat, if not I would discourage the player from picking the slayer career. A slayers life is about their death, so it just feel wrong to have a player who doesn't want the character to die. I can just repeat myself; talk to the player and see if you can come up with a glorious, fitting, death together. Involving the player might make it more exciting for him as well, as he will be able to prepare some heroic and memorable last words and actions.

This is not an armour, theese are tokens from valourous ennemis. A this point of slayer career, his defence/soak value is 4! If he doesn't wear any armor... Imagine if we found an heroic slayer career,it will raise this defence/soak value to 5!! Even Ironbreaker with Gromril Armor wouldn't be to well protected...
