Lurker/Dark Pact Question

By Jobu, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hello all,

I have played Lurker a few times and while I think I am interpretting this one thing right, it just sits wrong with me.

If I have a Soul Pact, I gain the following ability.

"Any Phase: While this card is refreshed, anytime you would gain any amount of Sanity, you may instead gain that amount of Power."

So the scenerio is, I am playing Harvey Winters and I have 1 Sanity left, I then go to the Asylumn and spend $2 to fill me back up to 7 Sanity. After spending the $2 can I then choose to not gain any Sanity and instead gain 6 power?

The way I read it, this is legit, but it makes gaining power so incredibly easy....

So which is it?

Aw hell. Quick! Someone tell Avi he has a phone call in the other room!

Yes. The Asylum and Hospital make it ridiculously easy to gain Power for cash. The trade-off is supposed to be, if you do that, you will likely be carrying around Power for a little while, and a Reckoning might ding you for that. But some would say that Reckonings aren't too big a deal, or that instead, you should get all your Sanity back and then sacrifice it for Power just before you plan to use that Power.
