Sacramento and general questions

By player998246, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

Hey everybody,

I've been looking into this game a bit and I really like what I am seeing. I am moving back home to Sacramento from where I am now (China) pretty soon and was thinking of getting started with the game - but before I did, was wondering if people played this back home in Sac? Is there a good community there?

Also - how much does the game cost to get going? Should I just start by buying the starter set up? How about paints and such? Is there anything else that I really need to buy? Anyway, I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Yeah! I live in Auburn but work in Sac and play dust. Admittedly, all of my dust stuff is down in Fresno where I usually play. However, I'd be more than willing to show you how to play.

And sorry I didn't see the bottom portion of your post. But yes, you should first buy the core set which is around $70 I think. Painting is nice but not required. The figures are very highly detailed and good quality. They look cool even with no paint. The core set will keep you busy for a while without the need to buy expansions. You run through a series of scenarios that follow a story. It took my friend and I around a month or two to finish the first book. Then you can switch the sides you play. Ie: you play the whole book as either the axis or allies then switch and start over. It's definitely a game worth getting into and personally out of the around 50 games I own, my favorite. The amount of excitement that builds as you play through a scenario is unlike any other game I've played. By this I mean the game in a lot of cases with be so close that it comes down to the last dice roll of the game, rather than one side completely slaughtering the other. Well that's all I got for now. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Myself and Guildlc live in Sac area. We are working on building a community. Currently we play as a group every other Sunday at Great Escape Games, and I am usually up at the shop every Tuesday to play whatever I can (Dust, Warmachine, Infinity, 40k).
