And then there was Illyrio...

This guy is SOO overpowered. There are very, very few decks that can fill up all of their character slots with unique characters and still maintain any semblance of a cost curve.

Ive always thought FFG should be printing more low cost uniques like Hot Pie, younger Night Watch dudes, Citadel apprentices, squires and others.

Agree on this...not sure about Hot Pie specifically (apparently he's a fan favorite), but cards like Hoster Tulley, or even some low-cost copies of the main characters. If Viserys has a 1-cost card that is fun and balanced, then why can't Sansa Stark, Arya, Maester Luwin, etc?

Maybe a bad choice of character examples? Sansa and Arya both have quite playable 2-cost character cards...actually Arya has two, plus Cat O The Canals.

Ya, I personally would love having unique low costs like all the Nights Watch, Citadel apprentices, Squires of many knights including some from Dunk and Egg, and other minor characters. Would make playing just cooler for me than having to use low cost generics...

Targaryen Tullys deck.

Now THATS an odd idea... makes sense I suppose, I was running a Tully GG deck before the recent FAQ update. I'm guessing the basic idea is the same, kill/bounce anything that might win a challenge and let RR win for you.

Sorry, that last post was not intended to derail the thread... Illyrio is pretty strong but I don't think auto-include. One card that I think is pretty close and has yet to be mentioned here is the Tourney Grounds, especially if you have enough burn to ensure that you always have more uniques.
