Resets and Sudden Game Changers

By Wanderer999, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hi all, my friends had been playing melee games with me in full blown 4v4 matches using specific houses from the core set and all 6 big expansions.

However, they complained that there were far too few 'really good' event cards that could actually turn the tide of a battle etc. (such as Heart of the Stag)

That aside, they also complained of too few resets like Valar plot card and Westeros bleeds event card.

I am posting here to seek help from you guys to advice me on which small chapters to buy for 'really good' event cards. I am way too new in this game to make an educated purchase for what I am looking for, and there are SO MANY chapter packs out there its quite impossible for me to buy them all.

Can anyone advice me on some of the better event cards and resets available now? (and which chapter etc)

"Good" events would depend completely on what house they were playing and what type of deck within that house, so that's a little tougher to help with. For resets there are a few that I can think of aside from Valar & Westeros Bleeds:

•Wildfire Assault, which is also in the core box is the next closest in terms of being an actual reset.

•First Snow of Winter, while not a real reset, will bounce all low-cost characters back to each player's hand, so it can act as a soft reset for an expensive deck, and can be devastating when followed by Rule By Decree

•Threat from the North can act as a semi-reset if you have a lot of strength-reducing effects, especially out of Targaryen

•Fleeing to the Wall is a Wildfire-style "reset" for locations instead of characters, if that's something they are concerned about

It's entirely possible I missed one or two, but that should get you started.

I would like to refer you to this thread as an excellent resource for new gamers.
