Dallas/Fort Worth Area Game of Thrones Tourney

By FalloutGuy004, in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game

I would like to gauge interest for setting up a Game of Thrones 2nd Edition Tournament in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. I would need to get 36 entrants. As far as a date for the tourney, I will determine that once I find out how easy it would be to get 36 players in this area.

The Tourney would run like this, with a few small tweaks along the way Im sure.

$25 Entry Fee for a Guaranteed 3 games. Pure 2nd Edition Rules Only. Will probably have a timer on Planning Phase.

6 Players on 6 Boards to start. Random drawing for seats and houses.

Winners of the First Round meet at 1 "Champion" Board for 2nd Game. 30 Non-Winners of first round redraw for seats and houses and play at 5 boards for 2nd Round.

Winner of the "Champions" Board of second round gets $300 and Moves to Final Table. The 5 winners of the non Champion tables in round 2 move to final table.

The Non Winners of the Champions Board split to 5 individual tables, then everyone who has yet to win a game fills in the remaining seats at those 5 tables. Each of those tables winners get $50. The winner of the final table gets $200.

The other $150 bucks of the entry fees will go to the house for costs associated with hosting the tourney. Will probably get some winner plaques, have a big screen playing the whole first season throughout the day, food and other stuff.

I have about 6 to 8 friends who would play, and am always looking for more. Please reply to this post if you are in the area and think this is something you might want to do. If I got 6 people who had a group they play with that would be interested, then i can get this set up in no time.

I'm not in the area, but I think tat is a great idea.

What do you ave for a venue? Have you thought about trying to a prize from ffg?

Well I appreciate the shout out. As far as a venue, i was thinking a high school gymnasium or a community center. Shouldn't be too tough on that front. Haven't contacted FFG yet, I want to try to get this off the ground first. Im up to about 12 players now, so Im a third of the way there. This weekend I am going to hit up some Lonestar Comic book shops, and some hobby places with handouts.

As good as this game is, its still tough to find new players in your area. At any rate, I appreciate you posting, and Ill keep this thread going if it turns out to be something. And anyone else reading this in the DFW / Austin / Houston area and think this is a good idea, hit this thread with something. I don't bite, I'm just a guy that likes to game.
