Dust setting questions

By Undeadhepcat, in Dust Tactics General Discussion

Hi --

I've read the 3 issue Dust Wars comic book series, as well as another short Dust comic -- the name of which escapes me right now -- that was on Comixology, but I still have a couple of questions about the setting I was hoping somebody out there had the answers to:

1. Does the name "Dust" have some meaning? (Like "Dune" is the nickname of the planet that that series focuses on, but I'm not getting the connection to dust in "Dust")

2. Has "VK" been described anywhere -- like what it looks like? (Is it a mineral type thing or is it just a catch-all for salvaged pieces of ailen tech etc.)

thanks --

If you go on the Facebook Official Fan Page you can ask Paolo Parente, he seems like a nice guy and will probably tell you how he came up with the name.

As fas a VK is concerned it is some type of substance which is mined from the ship as far as I can tell and is partially used to power the walkers.

I think Vk is supposed to be some sort of metalic ore that puts off a blueish glow. and I believe it is also both a structural material and a power source.

I remember from old versions of the Dust site, that the name comes from the global situation of the war. All is war, everywhere... All is dust.

Thanks -- I was thinking about making some terrain for Tactics (and Warefare), want thought having some VK "refinery" or something would be cool.

I kind of thought it might be something like that, but wasn't sure if there was a earlier part of the story or something that had a "dusty" setting. I think all the arctic stuff just had me thinking in that direction instead of as a metaphor. -- Thanks guys!
