Does anyone has some idea on how large the bridge is of a cruiser? And while we're on the subject, of other hull types as well?
Size of a bridge
The adventure at the end of the core rulebook has a combat map of a grand cruiser's bridge which is about 25 metres across by 20 metres wide.
I've been wondering about this too. The size of a ship's master's bridge or a ship's invasion bridge is 3 space. That's bigger than a cargo hold & lighter bay, and almost as big as a main cargo hold! The "bridge" part of the bridge probably only makes up a small part of everything that is actually considered the bridge (the component that is used to control the ship).
The grand cruiser's bridge that is mentioned by Errant always seemed a bit tiny to me. Especially for a vessel of that size. It should have been a command throne that looks down on a cavernous space with several tiers of control stations. Length about a 100 metres, width about 75 and a height of about 50, I'd say.
Hmm I sat caculating the size of Q-Class Transport, and its bridge have I calcuated to be about 200 meters wide, 75 meters long and about 50 meter tall. They are incredible huge, but there are also the command bridge, where all the information is filtered trough and given directely to the captain and the chief bridge officers.
So while the bridge may be incredible huge the very core might not be that big, most likely like a CIC
@errant, yeah I noticed that one too, but thought it to be rather small. I've found an old w40k cut scene from chaos gate where it looks like about 50m diameter space. And indeed as others say the totals space it requires is obviously a lot larger.
Edit here it is. The layout though does not entirely fit the current art....
the link, she is broke
The Bridge component in RT has always seemed to me to represent a number of sub-structures common to all Voidships. These would include The command bridge (Where the Captain and maybe a few of his Command staff monitor the major happenings in and around the ship as well as where the Primary helm is located. This could be as small as a Star trek style bridge but typically overlooks the CIC command pits). CIC where the major sensorium arrays comm gear and internal system controls are located (Similar in scope to Cheyenne mountain's situation room or NASA's Mission control facility); The Navis Dome where the Navigator and his retinue of assistants (Typically low level adepts and such) work and reside and the Captain's Cabin (Roughly equivalent to a Large luxury apartment on even the smallest of vessels!). Additionally there are Emergency escape facilities and of course Security Armory/response facilities. When added together these components add up to a significantly sized structure with a fairly large staff.
the link wasnt really broke, but had a http: too much ?!?
