Recording Matches

By Francisco G., in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I had an idea (and as suspected i'm not the only one, since it's not that original xD) of recording a match, or several.

My idea consist on having a special table in tournies or casual game groups where the match gets recorded by a couple of cameras. Later, the interested parties, could edit the different matches videos and comment on particulars plays, decisions, etc....similar to the octgn streaming....if it is done on a tourney you could even do post match interviews and have a colective input on the development of that tourney.

I created this thread so we could comment on how would you do it.....technical aspects.

For example: 2 photo cameras filming staticly from each player point of view in tripods.

Every idea is welcome.

I'm sure others have watched recorded or live Magic tournaments... most of the time these events have a single camera above the table and commentators are providing the details regarding what is in each hand (no additional camera from the players' points of view). This also makes sense because each player would not only hold their cards differently, but would move around during the match making it hard to have a camera adequately focused on their hand.

I believe this is already done in the Star Wars CCG. You could probably look up Scott Lingrel on youtube or other places to see how they do it, although it may be a bit of an amateurish take (at one point, they had commentators watching and making comments and stuff). As of now, this has been done for the online AGOT tournament, where Staton (twitch.tv/staton70) recorded several of the final matches and put them up. He and Shives have also recorded several of their matches, as well as others. Good times.

We have been doing that since Oct 2010 for yearly championship tournament in China.

Uncle joker, really?? where can we see one?? (we probably won't understand, but i would like to see the technical aspects)
