...i think every single person who answered the questions said that Baratheon got the shortest stick, its not really surprising that there is such a consensus about which house got hosed this cycle, but the designers definitely try to balance a cycle so how did baratheion end up with so many disappointing cards?

I'm trying to look at this in a positive light, especially since I've been doing well with a rush deck recently - Bara didnt necessarily get bad cards, Fiery Kiss and Knight of Flowers are both good, the debate about Painted Table still rages, the new Robert could be useful... but I still prefer the old KoF and Core Robert, so yea I guess Bara got screwed even if TLS is playable again. Bara cards from SoO were even worse and we haven't seen any Bara spoilers for the next cycle so maybe Bara will be getting lots of love.

Bara has a hard time in that their main strength (power rush) is probably the hardest to balance as well. Well, maybe along with milling.

True, and I think FFG has done a pretty good job of it... until these last few cycles. All of their cards from both SoS and AToC cycles are significantly underpowered compared to what the other Houses got. There's maybe 4-5 cards between both cycles that would see semi-regular play and most of the cards don't even help power-up weaker builds, which is where other Houses got a boost - for example, some new Holy guys sounded great until I saw how useless the cards actually were. I personally think the most useful card for Bara out of both cycles is Lyanna, a neutral card!
Granted, FFG needs to maintain a balance to prevent rush builds from being unstoppable, but giving us just one new decent Renown character wouldn't hurt, and in a cycle called "A Tale of Champions" one would expect to see something better than Jon Fossoway. And its not like Bara was the top House and needed to have their wings clipped; I don't really play Bara much, but its disappointing to see virtually no one playing them (no one in my meta at least, maybe they are more popular elsewhere).

On second thought, Dragonstone Convert could be useful.

I think she's a pretty good card. You can get Stealth from Smuggler's Cove, but it's nice to have it printed, and it'll be even better in Melee. It would be nice if she had the Asshai trait. We have several House Florent Holy cards now, it would be nice if there was something to support the trait. Hopefully we'll get some Queen's Men in the next cycle, perhaps they'll give us something that synergizes with both Asshai and Florent.
