King's Pavillion

By Leo Malk, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi,

I've been considering making a deck around King's Pavillion, using it to get extra strength in Challenges when using "do not kneel to attack" (or defend) characters, or using some sort of mid-challenge standing effect to get the bonus.

Since I don't se much comment about this card in the forums, I'd like to check if it's legal to use it this way.

Best candidate would be a Lannister Army / Adam Marbrand deck for it.

Regards,

Leo

I know it can be hard to believe in this game, but there are no hidden technicalities that would stop a character from getting the +3 during a challenge, provided that it is standing. It really is as straight-forward as it sounds. Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason you thought it wouldn't work this way?

Had few doubts about the interaction with "do not kneel" cards (other than the cries for bloody murder when I used it with the Red Viper saturday...)

Wanted to check about standing mid challenge (such as with Mayra Seaworth)

Thank you for the help!

Hi a little hijack here for something related to this card too.

Does this card benefit ALL standing characters including enemies' characters? I thought it did, which basically made the value of the card pretty useless.

It does, and it's not useless.

Or what about Dominance? Again, at first glance, it seems like it will have no real impact because all standing characters get +3 STR. But say your opponent has 1 standing character with a STR of 5 and you have 3 standing characters, each with a STR of 1. 5 is certainly more than 3, but the Pavilion isn't going to turn that into "8 is more than 6." Since each standing character gets +3STR, it'll turn it into "8 is less than 12." It turns Dominance into a number of characters game. One of the reasons the Pavilion is huge in weenie decks.

I had it in the Martell deck thinking on Dominance, the do-not-kneel part only occured to me when I had both it and the Red Viper in play at the same time. The second thing that occured was that it's not unique... +9 to core set Jaime in military challenges ;-)
