As I have previously stated (many times), I play the game with all expansions. That means all boards, all cards, and all mechanics. Well, all mechanics except for one: Touring Performance. I have never once played with this variant, just because it didn't look like a very good idea. Has anyone tried this who could care to share their experiences? Is it remotely viable from a mechanical standpoint?

Yeah, I had to. It's kinda boring if you realize you can play Ashcan and recycle endless times the Director's diary. Plus, the KiY deck has no gates opening at the three low frequency location, so it's kinda easy scoring a victory by closing gates. Honestly, the kiY Mythos deck could seem incredibly nasty, but the common items of the KiY provide you with so many clues that if you rush a litlle and push the game, you win (it's a little tougher if you don' play Ashcan, but I wouldn't say it's impossible).
Also, if you're playing only AH+KiY, it's very likely you can shop for ES, hence controlling the doom track.
Julia, you answered nothing he asked.
And happy birthday.
Thus the quintessence...well, I echo the second sentiment.
Your birthday today!? Happy birthday?
The point of the touring performance is to maximize the frequency of the KiY components rather than just mixing them in as normal. If you're playing with all expansions, why would you want to bring KiY to the forefront? Seems more trouble than it's worth.
You'll note that the first two small expansions—Dark Pharaoh and King in Yellow—include "visiting" and "touring" variants to do this. The later two, Black Goat and Lurker, and even the recent revised Dark Pharaoh, don't suggest this rule anymore. That should tell you something.
Thanks everyone :-)
Just a question. Walk's Has anyone tried this who could care to share their experiences? Is it remotely viable from a mechanical standpoint? doesn't mean "share youre experience with this kind of set-up?" Really, I don't get the point about my "non answering to his question". Help!
You certainly answered my question. We...well, see my previous post for the general idea.

I think I've lost something of what happened with MNT then. Doesn't matter, really, I'm glad I was able to answer. A little, at least.
Anyway, as Tibs said. Touring performances didn't have great success (especially because you spoil completely an expansion in a couple of games. Plus not all the decks are pretty well balanced. Not many weapons in the CI deck for KiY for example (if any at all). And no Elder Signs in the UI deck. So... shuffling is better :-)
At least Dark Pharaoh introduced new allies, so you weren't completely without ally encounters using the visiting variant.
Also Julia, "headbanging" doesn't mean "banging your head." It means to do this:

If you type (headbang) while chatting on skype, you'll have a marvellous smiley banging its head against a wall. That's what I was referring to!
I think that's why facepalm was substituted for most headbangs, because it lacks confusion and doesn't upset the long-haired pit-crunching fans. Also, some would say that after a wall-slamming headbang, it's possible you may knock yourself unconscious, thus avoiding the pain and learning nothing. A facepalm generally fails to allow such a blissful bypass.
On the other hand, a facepalm is much more easily associated with self-lambasting; others may not recognize that you are acting in response to another's faux pas, and make a snap judgment of blame to yourself. Whereas a headbang into a wall definitely denotes a demonstration of frustration with others at the fault of selfsame.
So, I think Julia should have just gone with a facepalm and the resulting red mark of restitution, unless I myself am misreading the situation. So my own palm is prepared to reciprocate, if need be.
Happy Birthday, Julia!
Lol, I took the "Touring Performance" variant for this when you have 3 act cards and draw em through mythos. Sorry.

::laughter:: ok, I didn't get it, thanks for the explanation

Then Dunwich arrived and Injuries disrupted the "no pain" theory ::laughter::

Thx 0...0100. May I ask you a completely OT question? Is your nick 100, or it's the binary system version of the number 4?
