Passively building power...

By Kingsguard, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Okay so my favorite deck is currently my Stark Kingsguard. It's a very turtley deck all about winning at defense. My one problem is that in Melee, people tend to just not bother trying to break through my defenses. I just kinda sit around doing nothing while they ignore me, fight each other, build up power and win. The deck needs passive ways to gain power. I'm thinking of using Knight of Flowers.

Anyone have any suggestions regarding ways to build up power without fighting?

Win dominance with Minstrels Muse out, then play Bran the Builders Legacy and fetch Den of the Wolf in Dominance and use it to win Dominance again. If you can manage to get 7 power through careful choice of title so you can jump in with the support mechanic then you can use that as you win play.

Theres a variety of unreliable ways to grab power without winning challenges. Core Ned, Orphaned Recruits, Winter Festival, Jojen Reed, The Mad Mouse... not saying these are all good cards, but one of them might help if you need a small boost. Orphaned Recruit can slow down an opponent too...

Some good ones to think about there. I'm thinking maybe Jojen Reed + Satin now. Though I'm not sure I want to take up too much space that could be dedicated to more Kingsguard. hmm.

one of my favorite decks is a stark kingsguard as well. The new Jhalabar Xho and some of the house Tully cards, particularly Riverrun and Guard at Riverrun are great ways to make your opponent throw a challenge at you against their better judgement.

If nobody tries to break to break through your defenses, play a champion arises. If you don't lose a challenge for a phase, one of your charaters claims three power (assuming you are playing four-players)
