If not, or if not "forever from now" how many packs of the old 40 card packs do I need to buy to get 3 of each card?

Eventually they probably will be. You would need to buy 3 to get 3 of every card.

Just to add to that, most of the "cool" cards only come 1x in the 40 card packs. There are 20 different cards per pack. 10 of them will be 3x, and 10 will be 1x. So, if you buy 3 of each 40 pack set. You will get 3x of half the cards and 9x of the other half.

Only the packs from the A Clash of Arms and A Time of Ravens cycles haven't been reprinted (fingers crossed that FFG will announce something soon). For completion's sake, you need 3 of each of those packs (and good luck finding some of them, because several of them have been out of print for a few months), but there are also some packs where really the cards you want are already 3x in the packs. The Refugees of War pack and its refugees, or Pyromancer's Cache in War of the Five Kings; and the Fury plots in Ancient Enemies, you probably don't need 3x of them.

Sigh, where are our reprints?

I only used to buy 2 of the old 40 card packs and it was never an issue. Most of the one of cards tend to be unique anyway. Not all, but most.
