New FAQ sneaked out

By danach82, in CoC General Discussion

If you haven't seen it, there is a new FAQ out updated yesterday (3/20/12). I wouldn't have known to look for it unless someone found it for Game of Thrones.

Some thoughts, Khopesh is restricted, as is Huang Hun. No real surprise there - I was surprised that Huang Hun was printed as it was because it was so obviously good at board control; now it can't be used with Farrington at the same time. Putting Khopesh on the restricted list probably won't do much to temper it, except force you to play with fewer bomb cards.

More tweaks to the timing structures, including passives that alter the framework action and disrupts - the clarifications Damon made about the new chapter pack with The Parlor.

Another clarification is that the Relics actually enter your discard pile before being shuffled back into your deck. This allows Snow Graves to prevent them from being shuffled back. Maybe it's always been like this and I've been playing it wrong, but that just seems strange that it isn't obvious that that is what happens from the text on the card. They need to do some serious framework action development and reflect that in the language of the cards - fortunately that is happening now, but it's in the awkward teenager phase. This also just pigeonholes deckbuilding to have to include Snow Graves, which necessitates that much more support-card removal...

Thoughts?

Wow, lots of changes here. As someone who just realized how awesome Negotium Perambulans in Tenebris is, I can't say I'm totally shocked about that inclusion to the restricted list.

Now I have to re-think all my decks. :)

Where is the restricted list? Couldn't find a link nor references in either the FAQ or Tourney sheet.

Secondly, in the FAQ it says:

Legal Story Deck for play for the 2012
tournament season is found in CT47
The Shifting Sands, F1-12.
Yet, CT47: is the Ancient Relics Cylcle....
I'm confused which story cards are to be used?

The restricted list is on page 5 of the standard FAQ, and page 2 of the printer-friendly version. Look at the lower right-hand corner.

The Shifting Sands is the first Asylum Pack from the Ancient Relics cycle. It contains 12 new story cards. These are the official story cards for the 2012 tournament season. If you don't have it yet, I recommend picking it up, it's a great AP.

Wow, big stuff going on!

I think the new Restricted cards are good moves, as well as the errata to Large Man. We'll see what effect this has on the Regional decks and whether any specific cards or combos are still an issue. Need to look over the tweaks to timing and stuff, I'm not sure yet what the changes all mean.

Personally, I'm glad the card pool restriction was clarified to not be what others and I assumed and that new packs will be tourney legal throughout the season.

I'm also happy about the card pool clarification, but wish it were described in the FAQ... It might have been better to say something like the TO chooses and cards must be available for sale no less than 4 weeks prior to an event to be eligible for inclusion directly in that section of the FAQ...

Those rules bits for the most part are all clarifications. Re: the Snow Graves Relics, because the relics don't use the word instead, they must got to the discard pile where their text would then trigger (there is no moribund in this game). Snow Graves prevents them from removing themselves upon entering.

As far as I can tell there is no other way those cards can function.

You've probably seen it by now, but Lord Farrington has been removed from the restricted list. This means the sweet bouncing action has just started ;)
