Crafting Question

By drxn, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Well, on the last mission - during which we were tasked to investigate an Inquisitorial research station on a derelict Eldar craftworld - I managed to accumulate a few xenos-related trinkets, namely: the large tooth of a huge sandworm-style beastie, the claws of wolf-like experimental subjects whose skeletal structures had been supplemented (or even replaced) with a kind of wraithbone (giving their teeth/claws a mono-equivalent edge), and the molar of a human who had undergone treatment similar to that of the wolf-xenos (effectively, its a human molar made of wraithbone).

We managed to survive that mission, despite all odds, and have since been sent to undertake actions on a massive Hive-equivalent orbital station (pop. 100,000+).

Long story short: I'd like to have these materials crafted into a pair of Good Quality (or better, preferably) trophy knives (IH 180); one of which I'd like to resell on the Hive market to cover the cost of their construction, while the other is intended as a personal thank you gift for our Inquisitor.

My question is this: Exactly how should I go about getting this done, and what sort of costs can I expect? I checked out the crafting rules in the IH, but they were somewhat.... lacking; providing very little information as to what an artisan is likely to charge for their time, and focusing more on the idea of a player character undertaking the crafting tasks themselves.

My initial plan would be to search out the best weapons craftsman I can find on the station, then convince them (likely via payment and the knowledge that the weapon will be known by others as their handiwork, or intimidation should those avenues fail) to complete the job; however, given the price of the items (700 thrones for a Common Quality trophy knife) I'm really wondering just how much a skilled artisan is likely to charge and how long it would be likely to take them to complete.

(NOTE: Obviously, a great deal of the determining factors in this situation will be up to my GM to determine; however, I'd like to have some idea as to what other GM's/players think on the matter and/or how they would handle the situation)

Instead of having two of those knifed made I'd try and talk the crafter into making one for you if you give him the materials needed for two.
Could be easier. That way you only have to "pay" for having one made and don't need to sell the second one.

As for the cost of the crafter: I think in the IH there are some prices for hiring assets. I'm not sure but perhaps there is something similar to a skilled worker.

If so I'd pay the price of a normal skilled worker in addition to giving him the stuff for the second knife, which should be enough to make up for the difference between any skilled worker an the artisan master crafter.

But all that would be up to the gm to accept or decline.
As far as I know there are no rules on crafting that are more detailed that those in IH.

Thanks for the reply.

I was unable to find any information on the service costs for skilled workers in the IH; at least, in terms of Hive worlds or their equivalent; with Feral worlds having some services listed, but none that would directly apply to the circumstances at hand (need for a weaponsmith).

Feel free to correct me if I might have missed them.

I just remembered reading something about services and hoped there would be a skilled worker.
