Wormhole Question

By arkenfels, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

I have a simple Question:

Which Wormholes are connected to each other? I always thought, that when you start at an "a" Wormhole you fly out at the other "a" Wormhole token.

Now, when you take a look at the official released preset maps it looks like "a" is connected to "b". Otherwise the Multi-Galaxy-Setup makes no sense.

Alpha wormholes are connected to all other alpha wormholes and beta connects to beta. Alpha never connects to beta unless you are the Ghosts of Creuss or the "interconnect alpha with beta" law is in effect.

I think what he is saying is that the two galaxies are not connected in any way and that is correct. What is connected is the middle galaxy, though the wormhole symbol does not appear in the middle galaxy on the document, which to the less familiar player might seem like their is no bridge but actually both Lodor and Quann are planets with wormholes on the system tile so the systems are connected through the middle system.

Additionally the pre-set map is recommended to be used with the Nexus which makes sense as it creates an additional bridge.

+1

I realized that this would most probably be the case just as I klicked "submit" but wanted to check the preset maps pdf before saying anything about it.

Ah, now I understand. But still the preset multi galaxy map seems a bit static this way. thanx for the answers!

Ya Im not a fan either to be honest and I agree it does appear to really split the game into two, though admitadly I have never tried it. I can't imagine any reason why a player from one of the galaxies would bother sending units so far out of support range into another galaxy unless the galactic setup someone forced him to in order to meet objectives I suppose.

I think the more interesting setups I've seen are those that involve two mid sized galaxies that are interconnected, without a middle galaxy.
