Do you realy think so?

Let me tell you about an Assassin dual-wielding two Nomad sniper rifels with Pistol Grips, Targeters, Recoil Gloves and Fire Selectors. Well, the Fire Selector was the most innocent thing on that…

You do realize that you don't get Accurate bonus damage dice for using a sniper rifle one-handed? You have to be:

  1. Using ONE Basic (not pistol or heavy) weapon with the Accurate quality
  2. Holding it with both hands
  3. Firing on single shot
  4. Using the Aim action

And on top of that, the pistol grip entry in later games says that some weapons such as sniper rifles or meltaguns are too bulky or unwieldy to be used one-handed, even with a pistol grip, so the upgrade's benefits don't apply to them. They can still have one for aesthetic purposes, though. Said assassin's attacks are also easily dodged since he only gets one shot each, so he's spent thousands upon thousands of Thrones on what is basically a gimmick. It's not even a good gimmick either.

Now, a real assassin dual-wields twin-linked flamers with underslung Exterminator cartridges loaded with purified promethium. And has a heavy flamer as a backup. And he also drives a Hellhound to the site of the hit.

Sorry that I must correct you.

You recieve the Accurate Damage Bonus for any single Basic weapon when firering a single shot. A Sniper Rifle with an extra grip still counts as a basic weapon though it can be wielded one hand with recoil gloves. There is no rule that says you have to use it in both hands.

And sorry when I said pistol grip… i meant the extra Grip of Dark Heresy. But now I am sure about you and some of your strange game ideas. You are using Black Crusade Combat rules, right? Well, dont use them in the DARK HERESY forums without warning. That makes no sense…

I am not using Black Crusade combat rules, despite your misconceptions, so don't be arrogant. And the rules do say it has to be a single Basic weapon ("A single shot from a single basic weapon" is the term used in the errata), meaning you don't gain extra damage dice when dual-wielding rifles, regardless of recoil gloves.

There's also something called common sense that GMs really should have when presented with an obvious loophole like this. You can't fire a sniper rifle one-handed and expect to hit your target, unless you're in close enough range that you should not need a sniper rifle. This sort of behavior is probably what prompted FFG to even add the blurb in future games describing weapons too clumsy to benefit from the pistol grip.

We haven't really used any BC rules in our DH games.

Also, on your correction, you are right and wrong. Yes you don't need two hands, but you also need the aim action, otherwise no chance of the damage. I suppose I was thinking two hands as no sensible person would try to snipe by holding the gun with one hand, let alone two (which wouldn't give the extra damage anyway). RaW vs RaI I guess.

What Gitmasha was mentioning was the "Macharian Handbook" which we have started to use, which does include sensible revisions of later 40k RPG books, such as to cut out such stupid cheese.
