Can the Queen's Guard ability ("After you trigger an effect that kneels an opponent's character...") still be triggered if a character isn't knelt? For example, if the Brothel Guard's Response is used but the opponent chooses to kneel 1 influence or pay 1 gold to avoid having their character kneel.

I guess the requirement isn't entirely met (kneel an opponent's character) so the Queen's Guard's ability can't be used. Correct, or wide of the mark?
