A couple questions

By branagan3, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

How does River Blockade's effect work if my opponent triggers locations in his marshalling and then I play down River Blockade. Obviously it can't retroactively cancel but does it cancel the next thing or do nothing until the next round?

Can I pay the cost for an event or effect without there being a valid target for the effect? ie. Kneel a maester to play Ill Tidings with no attachments on the board

I saw from our Greek friends the combo of playing Oldtown Politics to kneel a maester and then triggering Copper Link to give the event the "raven" trait to allow you to trigger Samwell Tarly. Assuming this is true, can I do this with Game of Cyvassse to kneel my maester with Copper Link and give Game of Cyvasse the raven trait? What about ambush, kneel the 2 influence maester to bring a ambush card into play and give it the raven trait to trigger Samwell?

Thanks

It works with Game of Cyvasse because the event is "played" from your hand and is technically in play (though moribund) through the rest of the action window. So you can play the Responses to make it a Raven by the time you trigger Samwell's effect.

It does NOT work with Ambush because Ambush cards are "put into play." Samwell specifically says the Raven card must have been "played." "Played" and "put into play" are not the same thing.
