I am agog... a deck list posted by FFG.

I think after 2.5 years of CoC in its LCG format, this is the first time, other than limited Arkham Nights event books, that FFG have posted a decklist for CoC.

Kudos to FFG.

Actually, I think, it's the second time. There was a Mono-Miskatonic deck in one of the previous spotlight articles - also created by Marius.

Was this one written by marius? I see no credits for this after searching so assumed this was born of FFG.

World Championship deck lists have been routinely published for at least the last 2 years.

So this really seems to be a first (well, there had been the two decks Damon had prepared for Arkham Nights 2011)!

i think this deck is pretty good. I played a slightly modified version of it with some mates and if you get the thing cooking it really dose control the board. The 3 mana pools only ting in coc means a bounce is a huge effect. Many decks were just complexly unable to gain any traction as cards would be bounced off the table and then nerds swing in for undefended wins with investigation icons. Was really impressed. The big combo on the page with the mask and stuff was minor as support card destruction is easy to add to most decks and even already in many... it was the bounce that was owning. That high priest card,.. wow... just awesome. Nerd.Lodge is a real deck.. maybe not torny grade.. but the faction is still young really i guess. I am still new at this game, but it seamed very good to me...

There were 2 decklists each for 2010 and then for 2011.

Arkham Nights 2010 Investigator Deck

Arkham Nights 2010 Mythos Deck

Arkham Nights 2011 Investigator Deck

Arkham Nights 2011 Mythos Deck

I had no qualms about posting the decklists as I felt that only event attendees seeing them did absolutely nothing in promoting this game. If FFG werent going to do it, I certainly will.

@ Hybrid.

Yeah, but those are player decks, not something generated by FFG in order to promote the game by giving noobs something to mull over. If it is one complaint I hear from new players a lot, is that they have no idea what the hell they are doing when deckbuilding and constantly ask for help in what asylum packs are good, etc.

I know I was one of those who scratched my head over it for a long time until I settled into the mechanics finally. I was determined not to give up though. I doubt casual players are that determined.

This seems to be the first legitimate step in giving new players something to build and try out for themselves to test deck styles with atleast a cursory strategy guide in how it works.

I would count the Arkham Nights decklists, but cannot in good conscious since those were exclusive promotional materials. The qualifying statement being "Exclusive". Not "Inclusive" as this front page article is.

Now all of that sounds grounded in cynical sour grapes, and it is.

Be that as it may, I still applaud whoever it was at FFG for doling out a decklist for new players. it is small things like this from the company that goes a long way in helping get and keep new players in the game.

In fact, I am the guy who posted those on CARDGAMEDB so others could at least see them even if they weren't attending the event.

It's indeed strange to make something like a decklist not avialable to a greater audience.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you and everyone who has been posting decks over at CardGameDB. It's the best deck resource on the internet (that I know of) and it's been instrumental for me in preparing and playtesting my own decks. There's no better way to learn the intricacies of the game than playing against well-designed decks (well, arguably, it's even better if you get to play against the decks's designer!).

So everyone who hasn't done so: Head over to CardgameDB and post your deck ideas!

It's somewhat amusing, but the deck list they posted is now illegal according to the new FAQ. Both Initiate of Huang Hun and Lord Jeffrey Farrington are on the restricted list.

Which one would you keep (assuming you would take 3 copies of either)?

[ADMIN: The FAQ has now been corrected to match the changes identified in the article. Lord Jeffrey Farrington has been removed from the Restricted List.]

Huang Hun for me. It's cheaper and repeatable, with Eldritch Nexus, you could remove their whole board repeatedly. True it's not targeted like Farrington, but still preferable combined with wounding for good board control.

I was wondering why my name kept showing up as the last post on this thread as Danigral posted after I did. I thought it might be another time stamp problem with the forums, and then I caught this:

Wow, that was fast! I checked the current FAQ and indeed Lord Jeffrey Farrington is no longer restricted. Thanks for the quick reply, FFG!

Hunh, didn't notice that. Very cool.

I'm sure there was a big meta reason why he was restricted in the first place, possibly having to do with bouncing AOs, but there are now easy ways to both play and remove AOs, so I guess it's moot(?) I'm guessing, here.

Personally, I think it's because the Silver Twilight already struggles somewhat compared to the other, more developed factions.

Putting 2 of their prime character-bouncing cards on the restricted list - when other factions are averaging 1 card or less - seems overly punitive to me, especially considering the size of their card pool. Plus, it might hurt sales of the Order's deluxe expansion.

Good news guys... Lord Jeff. Hes not restricted anymore. No... no so difficult decisions to make and the deck is fully legal.

:)

as a new CoC player (well, solo time and money investor) coming from Magic, I'm shocked at how little presence this game has on the internet. i keep wondering if i'm missing something... thanks to everyone who does keep discussing and moving the meta along
