First of all, I'd like to say hello to fellow community members as the newest member to date. I have played WH40K, Warmachine, Hordes, and some Warhammer fantasy since I was 12+ and that was nearly 22 years ago so I have a strong backround in miniatures wargames.
I actually discovered this game by accident perusing my local, and really only decent model shop the Time Machine of Manchester, Connecticut and I found the game to look rather interesting at face value. The walker tanks, the power armored elites, the squads of soldiers and special weapons, the realistic approach to a largely japanese-style idea (mech warfare), and how close it resembles my pet favorite, Warmachine.
I am concerned about a few things however. The game's availability, pricing, and play style are still in question. I'm looking for relatively cheaper alternatives to WH40K and Warmachine/Hordes and I have yet to find a general price to compare since all the sources I've found are a mixed range of prices. In addition to mixed pricing, I've found few places at all to really get a compiled list of faction-sorted miniatures to look into purchasing. Most importantly however, Im concerned that the play style looks overly simple and not on an epic enough scale for my tastes. The Youtube video I viewed, link attached, described at the end the game CAN be played on a full scenic table top but it didnt go into details on how the templates would be amended for open direction game play such as Warhammer 40,000 and Warmachine. Also, are there plans on expanding the factions to include Asia, Russia, and some kind of Resistance force (French)? It would certainly be interesting for a rag tag group of basically mercenaries to include in your force (like Mercs in Warmachine).
I hope someone can sell me on the coolness of DUST because it looks amazing at face value.
