They resolve. But you can't drive anything insane, or wound anything. You get to ready one of your committed characters at that story, though, if you have at least one Arcane icon, and you get an extra succes token if you have at least one Investigtion icon there.
Thank you for your reply. So would the Disrupt on Those Without Faces work on an uncallenged story. The Disrupt states: After you win a terror struggle, the loser of the struggle discards a card from the top of his deck. Thanks again.
yes it works, because you win the Terror Struggle.

So the maximum of success tokens gained for an unchallenged Story would be 3 then?

Normally, yes, but if you can add new investigation struggles. So it's possible to get the whole story in one go with for example Open for Inspection or Professor or Archeology or a character with two Glass of Mortlans.
