Monster Cards/Monster Actions Question

By Ansatsu8, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the monsters in the Lure of Power and Omens of War expansions. The included GM books give a suggested action card for the monsters to use. Is this the only action they have access to (aside from basic actions like melee attack, dodge, etc) if they have no action card icon options?

For example, the Seeker of Slaanesh has no action icons. The book lists "Tenacious hunt" as its suggested action. Does he have access to any other actions besides the universal basic cards? Does he have anything like "Festering Strike," a basic attack action available to all lesser demons of Nurgle?

It seems very strange to me, because up until Lure of Power and Omens of War were released, most monsters had access to at least 2 actions that aren't universal basic cards. Any clarification would be much appreciated.

To me monsters can, in general, have any action the GM desires.

of course it should fit the monster, a river troll shooting a gun would be more than unlikely, but it trying to eat someone might work.

as far as i recall there are quite a few actions for slaneesh deamons and minions included in lure of power, so any slaneesh creature can have any action, again, not those that would be implausible, like a spell for a fighter, but you get the picture i guess...

that's how i handle that

I'm not sure I could fine the line that made me think this, but I've always been under the impression that the suggested actions were just that-- suggestions. A great way to build variation is to swap them around. Give an ogre a couple Skaven cards and watch your players try to figure out what's going on.

In my current game, the party is getting attacked by a mutant polar bear that uses the troll vomit attack.

Use whatever action cards you like, as long as they improve the game.
