One round win setups

By Archrono, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hey all.

With the newest spoiler from The Poisoned Spear , the Isle of Faces and the the Den of the Wolf combo listed, me and my friend were wondering what hypothetical scenarios would result in a ridiculously fast first or second round win.

I think Baratheon could pull it off best, (Seat of power, Narrow sea, etc for crazy lucky set up).
The undefended bonus Melisandre , No kneel Knight of Flowers , double crown Robert , (or An Empty Throne ) , Superior Claims (2), and Marshal Law .

The idea being 2 or three undefended power challenges (extremely unlikely of course,) with the 2 bonus power per, plus renown, and superior claim. (of course, you need to win by 4 or more STR to do the superior claims and the Marshal Law .)

So:
2 for undefended, 1 for renown, 2 for superior claim, twice (cause there are two crown challenges) equals 10, plus Marshal Law once for another 2 power. Another renown and undefended for Melisandre, (Intrigue this time, again, crazy stupid unlikely.) for another 3 power (2 undefended and 1 renown).

Aha! there 15 power one turn. The only hitch (besides the impossibility of drawing all those cards in the correct order and your opponent not being able to stop anything,) is getting the Knight of Flowers to 4 (or more) STR to trigger all the bonus claims. (Easily done with a Rhllor's Blessing or other inexpensive attachment.)

I still have to math out the cost of setting everything up, but in this crazy scenario (where we have whatever we want,) I think 2 seats of power and 3 narrow seas would cover almost anything. (6G worth for chars, 6 for char or attachments.Plus the 5 gold for setup)

The new Tywin's dominance effect, as well as the Minstral's Muse combo in the post are great starting points for other houses as well.

Lets see some crazy hypothetical power rushes.

Actual game Bara/Martell vs Greyjoy (Turn one win)

Setup:

Me (Bara) Seat of Power, Narrow Sea x 2, Street of Silk, Street of Steel, Shadows Bob

Greyjoy: a couple of locations (I forget which) Iron Fleet Raiders

Turn 1:

Bara Plot: Into The Lists / Greyjoy Plot: Storm of Swords (I mill out to the Iron Fleet Raiders to lower their strength and hit a Royal Entourage) Bob claims 2 Power and stands ( 2 power )

Greyjoy to Play First

Greyjoy Marshalling: Distinguished Boatswain, Carrion Bird

Me (Bara) Marshalling: Court advisor on Robert, KL Knight of Flowers (Putting Entourage into play), Taste for Blood, Summer Sea (used for House Messenger to get Court Advisor) Court Advisor on KoF

Challenge Phase:

Greyjoy MIL: Unopposed, kills House Messenger Bob claims 1 power for Taste for Blood ( 3 power )

Greyjoy MIL 2: Kneels out, Oppose with Bob + KoF, 2 x Renown ( 5 power )

pass

Bara MIL: Renown x 2 + Unopposed ( 8 power )

Bara INT: Renown x 2 + Unopposed ( 11 power )

Bara POW: Renown x 2, Claim 1, Unopposed ( 15 power )

This is just one example. The deck has done this several times. Although not consistent or reliable it certainly has a good chance if your opponent plays into it. Generally wins turn 2 quite easily.

I've done it with my power rush deck (Bara treaty to martell)

Flopping something like:

Orphan (0)
street of sisters (0)
2x narrow sea (0)
knight of flowers (3)
aegons garden (1)

so first turn i play empty throne (3 gold) and I go first

4 gold available

play seat of power
pop both narrow seas for robert (standy KL version)
kneel sisters and pay 3 gold for stannis
pop seat of power and 1 gold for melisandre (unopposed)

so i have KOF, stannis, meli, robert, orphan in play

in challenges, i send all robert, stannis, kof on power (unopposed from stannis = 5 power)
stand robert (cuz i can)
stand stannis with distinct mastery, do it again (10 power)
stand robert (cuz i can)
military with robert and kof (its blocked but i win) (12 power)
intrigue with meli (win and unopposed (15 power)
opponent cant win a military or power against me because i still have 6 strength standing
win dominance (16 power)

This is surely an ideal situation, but I think my deck has won on turn 1 about 3 times. I got 14 power on turn 1 against joey kreins in the calicon semi finals in 2011. It was a wicked fast deck. I would win on turn 2 about 40% of the time, turn 3 about 40% of the time. Wasnt always as lucky as this game.

I assume you milled out the raider's power BEFORE choosing plots, since that's the only action window that's possible for this? :)

Nah, I just figured I'd ruthlessly cheat. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I've had a 2-round win with a SoW Stark against a Stark/Lannister Alliance (would have been way more violent against a real Lannister):

I don't remember the exact setup, but there was a Northern Cavalry Flank.

Pre-plot: 3x The Battle of the Whispering Wood

1st Plot: Fury of the Wolf, I choose to go first

Marshalling: another Northern Cavalry Flank comes in

Challenges:

opposed MIL for me (2 power)

my opponent attacks me in POW (1 power) and INT (no worry, it's all on the table), then offers me a MIL in defense, I kneel just about everyone, except one Flank and win (3 power)

Dominance: can't remember who wins it

Epics: My opponent has no standing MIL icons, so I get 3 unopposed MIL challenges, pretty much cleaning out the table (12 power)

2nd Plot: Storm of Swords just to be sure

But that's not the most bloody game I've played; that was against a Greyjoy Maesters:

Setup: 7 cards for him (including Wendamyr and 2 influence), 6 for me (including 2 cards in shadows and Wolfswood)

1st Plot: Fury of the Wolf vs Spending the Winter Stores (he taks Kraken Tattoo, I get Frozen Solid - the only attachment in my deck); I choose to go first

I play The Battle of the Whispering Wood

Marshalling:

I play Brienne, a Northern Cavalry Flank and Frozen Solid on his save location (the one that must be knelt and discarded)

He dupes Wendamyr, gives him Kraken Tattoo and otherwise empties his hand of Refugees, Boatswains and even Aemon

Challenges:

Not seeing he had no cards left in hand (it was on OCTGN), I attack in INT with a Refugee. Now, I get serious: I attack in MIL with Brienne and the Flank; he doesn't have enough force, because his Boatswains have 0 STR, so I win (opposed). He kills off a random weenie and I choose Wendamyr for the Fury (I wish I could have seen his face when I told him he couldn't save him because of Brienne).

He attacks me in INT and POW, then in MIL with 4 STR because I have only a Flank to defend. I still have 1 gold, so after a few calculations, I decide to defend (and win). I choose Maester Aemon for the Fury, he kneels to save himself.

Dominance: I win it with 1 gold, so his remaining Refugee is discarded (that's 2 dead and 1 discarded)

Epic: for 1 gold, I bring Guardian Wolf out of shadows. His 2 Boatswains now have 2 STR. But thanks to Wolfswood, my Guardian Wolf has Stealth, so he can only defend with 1. The defending one dies to claim to waste Deadly and I choose Aemon for the Battle and the other Boatswain for the Fury (5 dead and 1 discarded).

He concedes (though I only have 5 power), because he has no cards in hand, so even Valar will not save him.

Ser, thats all we need to know.

My Cersei Deck pulls off 2 round wins. With a bomb draw it should be able to do 1 round:

Setup:

Cersei + at least 3 gold generation/reduction

Turn 1

Play The Battle of the Blackwater

Play city of shadows and put Shadow Politics and syrio in to shadows

Longclaw on Cersei, Play LOTR Jaime (5 Gold)

Chalenges

Bring Syrio out and mil with Jaime and Syrio - Renown on Jaime, Syrio back to shadows (1 power)

intrigue with Cersei twice, claim renown and unopposed and cersei's ability (+6 power, 7 total)

win dominance (8 total)

Play shadow politics (6 gold total)

Intrigue with Jaime and cersei (+4 power, 12 total)

Epic phase

Intrigue with Jaime and cersei (+4 power, 16 total)
