Hey there everybody,

Chris Schoenthal and I have decided to release a new podcast into the wild, Summer is Coming. We are envisioning a bi-weekly podcast targeted at the intermediate player looking to improve their game. We realize a third AGOT podcast probably isn't necessary, but the idea seemed to fun to pass up. Any feedback would be most appreciated.

Also, we are hoping to make this an interactive podcast so please send any questions you would like us to answer to summeriscomingpodcast AT gmail DOT com . We are hoping to make your questions an important part of the show, so please don't hesitate to ask us anything.

Well we hope you enjoy listening to the podcast as much as we enjoyed recording it.

We apologize that we aren't all fancy and on iTunes from the start- we hope to figure out how to get it up there and start a feed like our two 'elder brother' podcasts soon. :)

Have you considered checking with Darksbane about hosting at CGDB? I don't know off hand if he wants to devote the resources to another AGOT show, but you never know..... and of course, it would go even further toward our efforts to make CGDB the go to place for third party AGOT discussion and strategy. ;)

Ya, I was going to discuss it with him :)

It's not a podcast if it doesn't have an RSS feed.

Typing your long ass url into my phone so i can download and listen anyway

Heh, thanks for sticking with us despite our techno-n00bery.

I enjoyed the podcast. It was fun and interesting…of course I love all things Thrones.

Parts I really enjoyed:

  • The description of your plot order (first snow of winter, fear of winter, counting favours). Mostly because its not used much in my Meta but was something I felt I would be seeing during regional just knowing others are doing it now reinforces my belief which is great.
  • The "pro play" segment. Though I don’t think the play you described was indeed a pro play as you seemed to not really understand why you where cancelling the summoning season (it seemed like a gut feeling). I really like the idea of “pro plays” and it struck a cord with me.

Suggestion: In the future I would love to hear you read some of the pro plays other listeners have done. Maybe you can ask them to send in their pro plays via e-mail and you can read those you think are the best.

This seems like the podcast which fits my situation the best. I'm learning the cards, and giving the card name and explaining how that card is used in combos is very helpful. I heard someone mention playing AGOT in Las Vegas... I'll be there in about a month so I'm interested to hear if there are regular players in that area.

Darknoj,

You are dead on about our example not being a true pro play. It was one of those situations where we started talking about pro plays but neither of us could think of one at that moment. So we rolled with an accidental pro play, which as you point out is not really a pro play. But don't worry, this week we will have a real pro play.

Also, great idea about having others submit them. I think we'll discuss 1 submitted pro play of the week. So start submitting your pro plays guys and see if yours is chosen.

I am sad you didn't keep with the 2 blank 1 blank theme. What were you thinking!

Glad to see the cali meta being represented on the airwaves. Looking forward to listening... and to Kingdom Con!

Agreed! So very, very agreed.

Are you sure you can't run a naming contest or something? *hint hint*

We have gotten that a lot...we may reconsider :)

Hi, you said something about inviting to the skype group for octgn.... whats the name of the group? how do you add a group? mi skype name is francisco_g_1983 just in case.

There is indeed a regular play group in Vegas! Drop us an email to summeriscomingpodcastATgmailDOTcom and I'll get you in contact with them!

I just download Skype so i would be interested in information about the AGoT Octgn Skype group.

I am looking to get some regional test games in with intermediate+ to advanced players, who wont be coming anywhere close to the Ontario Canada or NY USA regionals. ;)

We demand a 2X 1Y naming structure!

Glad to see another cast happening! As for iTunes and whatnot, if you post the cast on teamcovenant.com it gets submitted to iTunes and gets a feed associated with your account so that it automatically updates to both. It'd be sweet to have another cast over there. Currently a great debate going on about Valar and 1-ofs/3-ofs.

No matter what you do, keep us updated!

Let me answer your debate. Valar is awesome. There, that settles that.

Really great job guys. Thanks for choosing not to record your first episode in a car. Do you guys have a formal league? I would be itnerested to hear progress and recaps of a local league, It would be like listening to sport!

I might also add that you guys are successful in coming across as more "average" than the other podcasts. Whereas two champs (aka the will and random people show) clearly have years of experience and the two guys podcast is clearly running an exploratory podcast, both of you were successful in coming off as intermediate players.

However what that means is you will need to share more "secret squirrel tech" in your podcasts than the others. The biggest thing that intermediate players need help with is the meta/larger universe of possible combos and interactions. Most dont really know the national meta/socal meta so i'd suggest reporting deck lists, deck making thoughts more, as well as your plot strategies etc.

welcome to the podcast universe.

I would also comment on the more commons mistakes people new to the game do. Mind you i'm not talking about forgetting stuff (wich we do) but more played mistakes....like overextending on characters and losing to a well played valar since you don't have more cards in hand.....like playing valar with no cards in hand when the other guy has 4 or more.....like using a cancel in something when they should have wait for another effect to cancel.....stuff that only experience can give you.

A common mistake in my metta is focusing in one guy only in melee.....getting him destroyed and an easy prey for the other players....you can then see how everyone is trying to protect him from the other 2 in that crucial turn where everyone is going for the win except the destroyed player.

I liked the show, my only comment would be that the volume on the diferent voices was too diferent (sorry for the redundancy...i'm not a native english speaker/writer)

I am glad we now have 3 tiers of podcasts. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced.

Hey guys,

Just a heads up we will be recording a podcast this week. So, if you have any questions please send them to summeriscomingpodcast AT gmail DOT com. We've gotten a few really good questions and would be happy to field a few more.

I just listened to the podcast. Good first episode. I look forward to adding this to my thrones listening.
