I'm pretty sure Ivey said that ben lambright (another atlanta player with hanzo) is the one who t8ed with it

Oh I see I guess Ben had bad beats or something I figured if he could out diveristy Scott gaines he would be a top contender but congrats other ben .
I can't remember what Robert Finch (local) placed with his Sogetsu, but I do know that Jacob Marius' (One of D/FW's up and coming stars) Seong Mi-Na came in 8th (and had an epic duel with Jon Herr, too!).
Also, props to Team Biscuit out of Tennessee for rebounding to become the wild card match-up winner and champions of the GCC Teams. Their character line-up was Loopin' Hanzo, Spikin' Soiree, and Hugo dishing out some Sardines, just to give ya'll an idea.
Ah, now that I've had some sleep!
Top 8 for singles waaaaas:
1. Mr. Jon Herr - ***Donovan***. A **** good deck, and the only one that dealt me any losses the entire weekend. I tip my hat to you, sir! Pure Order plus Spike.
2. Marco (ATL) - Chun-Li9. Didn't get to play against it, but I saw its matches, particularly the mirror against Lafayette's Nick. Very brutal. Air/Water split.
3. Me - **Kyoshiro**. Pure Chaos, running Defender loop. More on this later.
4. Ivey - ***Alex***. All with a splash of Fire, running lots of Hugo draw tech and the obvious kill with Love Tap (RSS). STOP PLAYING TIRA'S CONTRACT!
5. Ryan (Havoc) - ***Ibuki***. Chaos/Evil. Very, VERY clever deck. I'll let him decide if he wants to go into it...
6. Robert (Lafayette) - **Sogetsu**. Tri-symbol. Awesome guy and deck to play against, and our second big match ever. Very good player, great deck.
7. Ben L (Dragoku?/ATL) - ***Hanzo***. Hanzokick, from what I understand. Didn't get a chance to check it out.
8. Jacob (DFW group) - ***Seong-Mina***. Tri-symbol. This deck is stupidly good, and the only one that seemed to shake Jon all weekend. Jacob's only been playing since, like, October of last year, so I really see him doing big things in the future.
Matches were (if memory serves)
Donovan v. Seong-Mina
Kyoshiro v. Sogetsu
Alex v. Hanzo
Ibuki v. Chun-Li
Top 4 was
Donovan v. Kyoshiro
Chun-Li v. Alex
And the finals were D v. Chun-Li, which D ultimately won in a very long and epic match.
Kyoshiro - yeah, I was running Defender loop. I sold my soul for this victory, because I really, really hate Defender looping. Originally, my deck going in was to be a tr-symbol Kyoshiro running Tiger Fury and Sardine's, but access to Spikes had me change my deck to Air/Chaos Olexa. At the last minute, though, Jacob needed the Spikes more, and I'd loaned my BRT to Shelby for his Alex, so I had to play something other than Order. I settled on Chaos Kyoshiro with DLoop; it won the games like it needed to, but I don't plan on playing it ever again - I learned what I needed to from playing it and against Herr, kinda like how I never ran Ibuki again after last year's GCC. In that same vein, I played promo Alex for Teams because I never had before; it won every game it played, and I'll never play it again. Sorry, Daniel =(
Teams only had 7 teams, sadly, and I can't recall what everyone was running. The winning team was Team Biscuit of Tennessee, running Hanzo, Soiree (woo!), and Hugo.
Drunken Master is so getting its own tournament report! But ultimately it came down to ATL's Ben Shoemaker v. DFW's own Brian Harris (Nubian_God), with Brian taking the win with Getting an Education looping Hyper Dynamite Slam. Much drunken lulz were had!
The only other event was Double Dragon, in which the winners were part of the DFW contingent - Shelby and myself, running *Cody* and Talbain, respectively.
Of particular note were the absolute lack of Zi Mei, Zhao Daiyu, and Talbain for singles.
My personal tourney reports will be up in a bit, and I'll upload and link to the pictures I took. Some really good, hilarious stuff. I need to get in touch with April, Jacob, and I think Marco, to get their pictures as well - my camera didn't have enough memory for more than about 15 shots and a quick video of Brian being incredibly drunk.
Thanks to Thai for hosting this fantastic event!
Prize support - prizes consisted of:
Vitality counters - I'll get a picture of mine up in a moment. They're based off a resource symbol, and there were 6 there - Chaos, Void, Water, Death, Life, and Evil.
Foils - Light-Hearted. It will induce epileptic seizures, I guarantee it.
Promos - lots of Zi Mei, Zhao Daiyu, Ukyo, Ken, Blanka, Heel Snipe, and Enkidu the Valiant, but also featuring the first appearance of Temujin!
Drunken Master had a GIANT bottle of Grey Goose and some other stuff for prizes, plus the actual packs - Thai had REALM OF MIDNIGHT for this. Brian pulled a Spike, the lucky $%#@!
Thai was also selling boxes and singles of stuff, and there were some sweet banners that Paul had printed up for the event. Thanks, Paul!
No foil Red Lotus, sadly.
More to come!

you mixed up some of top 8: chun-li played hanzo and ibuki played alex.
Also congratulations to Jon Herr for winning the whole thing. His deck was the only one to beat me in singles competition and he was the only person who i really didnt mind losing to.
Ah, I thought so! Couldn't remember who played who in the last bit. I had thought Ivey played against the Hanzo, because I knew it was ATL v. ATL for one of the pairings. My mistake.
Also - I'm guessing you were there; who were you (just to put a face to the name)?
Edit: oyeah! First part of my report is up!
Awesome stuff Megageese its awesome to see a character like sogetsu make a showing finally I hope at the next regionals we get more diversity like at this event .
Even with there being multiple Donovans, Hanzos, Chun-Lis, and Alexes, only one Chun-Li was cut due to diversity, so it all came together towards the end. But yeah, hopefully we can keep the character mix this random for the rest of the block.
this is marco, the guy who helped you put ivey in the can
Osnap! I wasn't sure if you were here on teh forums or not! =D
Which reminds me - if you has pics, please email them to me. I especially want the one of us putting her in the can xD

Ah, we had a great time. And I even learned (from you!) that Hoyoko-Sen isn't nearly as over-rated as I thought it was. Those beats I saw were fantastic. Ah. I think my favorite was the game between you and Nick where you both had fully Multiple'd Hoyoko-Sen in your card pools on somebody's turn xD
I'm gonna go ahead and toss out I remember drunken master up until the end of game 1 in the finals. After that not a thing can I recall. So this is a formal apology to anyone I may have offended. /lol
Singles I played terrible 2-2 some horrendous misplays to say the least. I had alot on my mind going in with some family problems.
Congrats to the top finishers. And big props to Thai for always throwing good tournaments. One suggestion. Drunken master does not mean alcohol poisoning. Lets tone it down next year. And curse you brian for ripping a spike in sealed! Your a real trooper man, you looked about just as bad as me that night.
i believe it was nick's turn when that was happening
Portion two of my report, that being Drunken Master, is up.
I forgot about the part where we all just stopped what we were doing and laughed at something Ben said.
Now more than ever, I'm convinced that ATL crew is good peoples. You guys are awesome.

Did he say something about cops or liquid form again?

Yeah, Amnesia hit pretty hard. It was pretty hardcore, but you would've fared a bit better if you were 100% (don't know about ya'll, but going from a 10 hour drive right into a tournament then drinking?). If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're inhuman 'cause I couldn't imagine making it through half of the day you clocked. Major props for powering through, man.
But yeah, I'm gonna have to make some moves so our groups can get back together and get some quality matches in. Oh, and I hope your dad's on the up and up.
i hate you guys
not you brian. just those responsible for putting me in the trash can. you know who you are.
ivey

These aren't the 'droids you're looking for... *waves hand*
hanzo kick was me not dragoku
atlanta team had curse of playing eachother and match ups didnt seem to make any sense.
i ended up playing 4 atlanta people out of 5 matches, ivey played 4 of us, marco played 5 and other ben played 3? of us.
for us it was pretty much a local tourny. i also didnt just beat shoemaker on diversity, we had to play eachother and i got the better draw.
