Where did Talbain finish?
people got afraid of diversity and everyone ended up of not playing him?
It's an interesting top to be sure. I'm guessing Chunner's was off of Water?
As for the lack of Talbain's... Maybe Ren's right?

Chunners probably would've done well off any symbol, but if I had to guess I'd probably say Void solo, Void+? or Air+Water dual symbol.

From what Havoc told me there wasn't even a JT there just like desert warz....
Also probably due 2 the fact that everyone spends their time trying 2 tech against him that people are scared of losing
I know right before I go 2 a big event me n my friends either make or proxy up decks that are dominate at that moment and test against them and see what we can 2 do make it better for us
Of course this just means that the next big event someone needs 2 tough it out....if noones goin 2 play him then that one person does.....
or it could be that no one wants to play him because he's no fun to play. my one experiment with him bored me to death. The person who plays him would have to bring like a book or booze or a DS to keep themselves occupied while their deck plays itself...
also, as of right now you can't really tech against J. Talbain himself. Play more assets? Play Dhalsim-4? that's about it. Every other tech is simply anti-DR and control or heavy duty board commital, and doesn't tech against J. Talbain specifically. Beating him is more a state of mind and strategy then anything else.
but yeah, someone should "tough" it out one major event and play him.
Congrats to Jon Herr for his win at the GCC. Sounds like it was an awesome time!
Congrats to Brian for being able to hold his liqour! Drunken master FTW!

As meta changes and balance shifts, decks and symbols come and go...
...but good players will always be good. We already knew Jon was awesome. This just tells us that he still, as ever, is.
Congrats Jon!
Congrats to everyone, and needless to say, this tournament was a good reflection of who are your top tier candidates (this was a block 3 format right?).
All I can say is, I'm really hoping they release some card that does to Donovan what Destiny did to Akuma. Akuma is still one of the strongest characters around, and probably always will be, but anybody smart enough to tech-in Destiny is going to give him more than he can bargain for. Although I'm not a fan of universal, unnegatable control (stuff like Destiny, Mortal Strike, Armored D, etc), they ought to make anti-draw, and I mean better than Tough Outer Shell.
Coolbeans. What kinds of prizes were given out?
hawtness
Congrats to M-Goose. I wasn't particularly fond of Kyoshiro for "stylistic reasons," but thankfully (?) I eventually failed at collaberating that. GJ
I need to hear what went wrong. What was the hamartia????
J. Talbain- My general impression is that building and running a true J.T. is quite similar to doing Promo Hugo correctly in his time, before F&G. Most players can't handle that kind of cerebral challenge, or else they don't want to commit to bringing it to fruition. Of the three true J.T.s that I'm familiar with, Goo's, Kin's, and Fred's-- or perhaps I should take the analysis one step further... in Goo's, Kin's, and Fred's unique styles -- I get the impression that any worthwhile J.T. build requies a focused, clear, and distinct mindset.
Also, you can always try discarding/destroying a J.T.'s hand before the deck has firmly established a dominant field presence. I can't seem to fathom most of the conventional anti-J.T. playstyles, but I have observed a J.T. usually suceeds at outbuilding their opponent and then they win easily. With that in mind, any player that can outbuild a J.T. should have a much better shot at taking him out. Have you ever played 10 foundations in one turn? I have many times and probably never will again.

Anti Draw will be coming in set 12 FYI and Tough outer shell is still legal .
omg dumb dumb dugan, congrads. you did the PPPPSHOE brigade proud
Congrats to Herr and Donovan order taking the top spot, Miss chun li making second doesnt surprise me either congrats to him as well. So does anybody know what the last three top 8 decks and players were. Also if anyone knows the symbols the top decks were playing and any other decks that were there it would be greatly appreciated.
Congrats to Jon, Marco, and Ivey, good job, and hopefully I'll see you guys again sometime.
Jon, you did it again, congratulation. Also congrats all those top-8 finishers. From previous post, the attendance should be in the 20ish right? Wasn't surprised if not many played JT but no one? I know Vik and Failed2k weren't there but to have nobody played JT still surprised me... Never heard Jon shy away from a character because of diversity so got to assume either JT did not fit his play style or the UFS house finds weaknesses in JT. In personal note, I am happy to know there are more anti-draw/add tech in set 12 and hopefully that open up spaces for other characters to compete with Donavon and Chun-Li... See you guys in the arena.
well do we know what the other 3 spots are id be interested in seeing who else made top 8
I think there was a Hanzo t8
