Regionals anouncements?

By dcdennis, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Is there a date when all regionals are announced simultaneously or is it up to the individual regions to make that info public? If no such date exists specifically, does the info generally start to come out around the same time each year? I'd like to try and make plans to attend a few different ones.

From what I understand based on the application, the decision should be made today and announced shortly thereafter.

According to the Regionals application announcement, the list should be up today.

Based on past experience, the 3/12 date given in the announcement articles is the date FFG starts notifying applicants of successful bids. They do not post a comprehensive list of dates and locations until all TOs have acknowledged/confirmed their acceptance. Pretty much the day that list goes up, the organizers start putting up details on the boards (the good ones, anyway).

So expect not to see an announcement today, but there should be a list of venues by the end of the week, along with threads containing event details here.

Well darn, so much for hitting 'refresh' all day. serio.gif

The list of international events is preliminary BTW. There will be a second wave of announcements with a comprehensive list of international venues. Our own Munich Regional is listed already, though, and registration is open as of now. I will be posting an announcement thread and putting up a webpage for the event in a day or two.

I am very pleased with the high number and wide spread of events for AGoT. 18 US and 12 International events so far, and there will be a lot more international ones. The game is on the rise!

So someone worked late at FFG, huh? Way to go, Anton Torres (or the unpaid intern he made stay at the office until the list was done).

You're lucky we only mustered half of our realm!

...the Oregon regional is on a WEDNESDAY. How odd.

So, Orange County is a region unto itself, huh? Weird. Why is that?

And that it is represented on that map in...orange, of all colours, is a stroke of genius, right? gui%C3%B1o.gif

They don't want any out-of-towners. Californians have to go to their 5 regionals. happy.gif

And Texas is twice the size of California, and they have to go to Oklahoma. What's right about that?

Yeah, that's a bummer- I know a couple people who just started playing in Texas too. serio.gif

Not sure why we need a regional in burlingame AND san francisco.

Oh well. I guess FFG just approves all regionals bids. Not a huge issue.

That's a safe bet, seeing that they approved two Regionals in England located less than 18 miles apart. As long as the player base supports it, I don't see an issue there.

There is no verification of player base though. Our meta is playing less than 30 miles from the SF regional and we've never even heard of an SF meta.

I have heard of them. I think it will be fun to descend upon them with our numbers though. SF and KublaCon HAS to be the closest geographical Regionals in history. Both in the same month and less than 10 mi apart. HA! Fantastic...for Bay Area Players at least.
