Mechanized Units

By Doomslayer, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Got a Few of questions about mechanized units.

(1) Are mechanized units affected by Radiation Domain Counters?

(2) If a mechanized unit encounter a positive domain counter like Natural Wealth or Native Intelligence does the player still get the Trade Goods?

(3) If a mechanized unit encounters the domain counters Fighter Ambush , Hostile Locals , Automated Defense System, Wormhole Discovery or Settlers will these still occur as stated?

The FAQ states that MU's are immune to effects that refer to GF, so the answer to your questions are:

1) No

2) Yes

3) Settlers and Hostage Situation, won't occur since they refer to GF's

about C, you are not entirely correct, yes you do ignore hostage negotiation, but settlers refer to any ground invasion, and therefore come into play regardless of mechanized units

Thanks for the support but I'm still a little confused.

If mechanized units encounter settlers are they returned to the ship or do they stay on the planet?

And if the settlers belong to an opponent does the Mechanized Unit fight the opponent's Ground Forces?

Thanks again,

If an effect is going to affect MUs, I see no reason why it would only apply partially. It either affects them completely, treating the MUs exactly as it would GFs in the same situation, or it does nothing to them and gets discarded.

With settlers, i think it effects MU's entirely the same way as ground forces

no, yes, and yes. the errata has a great paragraph dedicatedto mech units in and outs.

We stopped playing with Mech Units, simply because there are so many odd loopholes when it comes to the division between them and GF, especially in the political cards and action cards. I think Shock Troops and Mercs make up for the lacking power of regular GF.
