Free RPG Day - What is FFG offering for WFRP or other games?

I think they put out stuff for the 40k RPGs in the years they were released. Was Black Crusade supported at last years event? If not then I would guess it will get something put out this year. If not maybe the Star Wars RPG? Sadly I don't see WFRP getting any love this year.

Last year FFG released the Broken Chains adventure for Black Crusade on that day. I am sure there won't be anything for Star Wars, they haven't even told us if they are doing something rpg related with the lisence, and doubt there will be anything for WFRP or BC this year.

According to the site they are releasing something. At all the recent events their release has been to support a new RPG. That probably means a fifth 40k RPG, a re-release of Fireborn (that had a novel published recently), star wars, a runebound/age/wars/whatever rpg.

Or maybe our luck will be good and with no new RPG to promote they are going to be giving out something to promote WFRP. A multi part adventure spanning Grey Lady Pass from mean streets of Ubersreik to the even meaner paths of Athel Loren, taking in a diversion to Blood Keep and ending in a four way battle between the PCs, a company of Bretonnian Knights, a troupe of wardancers and the vampires of Blood Keep. Ok, so a lazy GM can dream.

While the suggestions above are all very worthy, they are, sadly, not very likely. The FreeRPG booty list says FFG plans to throw ten books in each box as it has with Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, and Black Crusade during the past three years. If we make the assumption that this effort will only be put toward marketing a new RPG, the inexorable conclusion is that it will be Star Wars, and that the Star Wars RPG will be announced by mid-May.

Alternately, it is entertaining to contemplate the first spin-off of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 3rd Edition, an all-nautical RPG based on the Dreadfleet setting. Or perhaps FFG has decided it is time to re-release the Twilight Imperium RPG using the 40K RPG engine (also a logical choice for Star Wars to cut development time and cost). Or perhaps it might even be a new Song of Ice and Fire RPG with TV-series photos. On the other hand, it is not impossible that FFG could release the first scene of the new The Enemy Within campaign as a booklet.

For those who are interested, we have our answer as to what FFG is putting in the Free RPG Day package: Brotherhood. Duty. Sacrifice.

A scenario and quick start rules for the new Only War RPG. How cool is that?

I think they will be done when they finally have fleshed out every single nook and cranny of the 40K Universe. I, personally, will be waiting for Dark Cleansing, which will allow players to finally take the grim and perilous roles of the service crews and janitors in the Imperium.

No, Imperial Cadian Storm-trooper Chiropodist is the one for me. Mighty steam powered nail-clippers. Mindless drone foot-buffing servitors. Emotionless guard-receptionist calculating machines. Evil foot gunk. Perverted bunions. Half sentient rabid attack verrucas. The list is tedious

Given the approach they have taken to the 40k rpg I can see several more legit RPGs before they have to start reaching for the really silly ones.

Games where you play the criminals in a hive world (the Necromunda RPG) and one where you play Orcs and whatnot seem pretty obvious.

I must admit it seems to be a strange approach to producing a game. However as someone who has brought 3 of the previous 4 releases I must say that it works.

The same approach could be taken with WFRP. The power levels of he Warhammer Battle game is so much higher than that of 1st and 2nd edition RPG it is almost like they are in different worlds. 3rd Edition has has tried to close the gap, and worked pretty well, but some of elements are very hard to fit in. For example it would be difficult to fit High Elf wizards into the RPG because they would be so much more powerful than a everything else. This is probably the reason that they have always been ignored in the RPG. However a 2nd RPG focused on high level high fantasy stuff could make them much more workable.
