Hero's Call - SPOILERS

A new question, if it is ok:

Which enemys can we find in Hero's Call. Some of the named ones were already shown, but what's about the hellpitabomination we saw as a picture? Is there a varghulf?

I can post a complete list later (at work now), but to be honest a lot of them where named ones. Archaon comes along, with his Swords of Chaos in tow, Thanquol(sp?) and that rat ogre of his, Mannfred von C, Grimgor (I think, some orc, may have been Azhag?) that double headed chaos dragon possessed by a deamon, a Dark elf with a cthulhoid mask, the beastman with the many horns...

There's also an Ogre Maneater, and a named one as well, those huge beastmen that just got released as models I think made an appearance. I do remember a Hellpit abomination, can't remember if it was a chaos or a Clan Moulder thing though. I don't remember seeing a varghulf, but I'll check to make sure, as we've seen in this thread, my memory is not totally reliable.

I liked the "boss cards" best though. A card, the size of a career card, where you place the normal monster card on it and it is surrounded by the extras gained by that card. So if you place a Black Orc on the Hero card, he gets some extra wounds, extra to attack, soak and defense, he gains a stance meter, more dice pools, and some special rules. The Hero can exchange one dice for one success, once per battle or something like that. and he is suppossed to get a couple of action cards as well. The Sorcerer gets channeling, 2 ranks in spellcraft and 4 spells.

Champion's career ability?

Hopefully should have my copy tomorrow, but i just wondered if there were any rank 4/5 spells for the chaos gods, dark magic & necromancy?

Many thanx Crimsonsun

Other than the named monsters you get:

Arachnarok spider

Ghorgon

Hell Pit Abomination

War Hydra

Black Orc

Night Goblin

Goblin Shaman.

Ogre Maneater.

No varghulf unfortunately.

Champion's career ability?

Champions gain +1 DR if they have mastery in WS, +1 Def. if they have mastery in Coordination and +1 Soak of they have mastery in Resilience

Thanks for the information! Some big guys in there. I hope there will be a box/POD for the vampires. Also a chance to come with the new stuff of the tabletop-armybook.

I would have hoped for something with both Thanquol and Manfred being epic level casters, was also hoping for info on summoning and rituals as well, but not heard anything so pretty sure they were not included. Maybe we will see more in TEW when released.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Crimsonsun

There is at least one action that has the keyword summoning, it is a Morr-blessing I think, that summons an angel of death. The angel is only an apparition though that hangs around and scares the **** out of everyone.

There is also a "Summon the Creatures of the Night" action that Mannfred can use to summon some backup wolves/bats, which works more properly like a summon spell.

Thanks for the additional information, there is a summoning action in the creature vault for undead as well, I was just kinda hoping for something more in-depth, but this is a personal taste thing. Should have my copy when the postman turns up tomorrow and am very much looking forward to it. There are a lot more products i would like to see for 3rd ed but this is the last one I think that was needed in terms of rules completion.

Thanks once again Crimsonsun

Yeah, it's not bad but it is dependent on them spending a lot of XP on those three skills, that's 12 XP in total. Not that having that is otherwise useless, but they become fairly focused.

Yeah, but even having two makes for an impressive fighter. eg: My swordmaster might not have a chance to train resiliance that much, but I can fit in WS and coordination four times. Epic dodge looks pretty sh*t-hot. (Despite my being the only one getting hit the last time we were in combat. Stupid ghouls.) Plus, hey, I can always swing a few other uses for it.

Yes, the advanced defenses Parry, Dodge, Block were very good, and needed.

Ogres must consume food every hour? And gets a misfortune dice for each hour he does not? Harsh!

Whats the Maneater career ability? Is it just the gutplate?

Also it was mentioned that Ogre the ogres could raise their S and T to 7, could you do this at char generation or is 5 max?

5 is max at char.gen. as för everyone else, and maneaters get a gutplate.

You need mastery in a skill, (same skill as for the improved ones) and using it adds a challenge die and a miss and a bane to the results of the attack. And if the attack misses you get something extra, like the Dodge one gives you a free maneuver.

Thanks! Do they require the Improved version too? Or is that left as ambiguous as with the Basic and Improved version?

By ambiguous do you mean asked and answered in that very thread?

I'm anal enough that I wanted to get an official answer to this question so I used the contact page on this website

EDIT: I have no idea why it's so dark, nor any idea how to correct this, I just did a standard cut&paste from my email

Richard,

"Improved Dodge" and etc. are intended to replace an existing action card already in your action deck; in the case of "Improved Dodge" that card is "Dodge." If you don't already know "Dodge," you can't learn "Improved Dodge." The same is true for "Advanced Dodge" and its ilk, available in Hero's Call.

Still, since "Dodge" is a basic action, the odds of any character who's intending to learn "Improved Dodge" not having it should be quite low.

Enjoy the game!

Emphasis mine

I am finishing some tier 4 careers for my High Elf supplement and I have not yet recieved my copy of Hero's Call. I, therefore, have a few questions.

Which are the traits of the Master and Batlle Wizard career cards?

How many skills does the Master and Battle Wizard careers offer?

Which are the traits of the Champion career card?

How many skills does the Champion career offer?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks Treehorn, that is precisely what I needed, I am going to update my elite careers for the Asur supplement.

Thanks a lot!

Ok ok, one more last question (when I start I cannot stop it lengua.gif)!

Which is the ability of the magistrate? the tier 4 social-like career? Has it also 12 advances and 6 skills like the rest?

Thanks in advance and sorry for so much questioning.

Cheers

Finally I got Hero's Call from Maelstrom's Games.

I really appreciated this supplement but I found that the included adventure is non epic at all.

Also is quite similar to The gathering storm. I would loved something TRULY EPIC. The defense of Black Fire Pass, the Return of Nagash and similar.

  • Career ability: when a magistrate influences a target the magistrate and it's allies recover 2 stress and 2 fatigue each (once per session).
  • Tier 4, yes.
  • Social, yes - it has the social trait, social skills and reputation slots.
  • 12 advances, yes.
  • 6 skills, no - they have 7.
