Hero's Call - SPOILERS

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

So, what do we know so far?

Halflings? What is their characteristic start spread?

Ogres? What is their characteristic start spread?

jh

Halflings get S:1, T:2, A:3, I:2, W:2, F:3

can train BS, Skulduggery, Guile or Stealth for free

all observation checks against halflings get 2 misfortune dice

night vision (as dwarfs/elves)

Wounds: 7+T

Corruption threshold: 15+T (immune to mutations)

Ogres get S:3, T:3, A:2, I:1, W:2, F:1

Must begin play as Ogre Maneaters (career)

+1 soak due to thick skin

gets 1 misfortune to all actions for every hour he fails to consume meat, if: No. of Misfortune dice = T he may fly into murderous rage, fall asleep or whatever the player feels is appropriate. also gets 2 fortune dice to resist ingested toxins, diseases etc.

raises S & T for one advance or creation point less (may raise to 7)

Reduce Fear by 1 and Terror count as Fear (not cumulative)

Wounds 12+T

Corruption: 10+T (not immune to mutations)

So I guessed well with the Ogres and their maximum of St 7 and To 7, though I failed with Halflings I thought max St woulb be 5

Thanks for the previews. I hope they'll soon start to deliver Hero's call.

Is this a bad time to say that I've had mine for about three weeks now? ;P

I can however offer more spoilers if you like, I am at work now, but I'll answer what I can and then fill in the blanks once I am back home.

Oh yes, can you tell me how many talent slots the tier 4 wizard career has? 3 or 4? I know the tier 5 (Wizard Lord) has 5, one of them beign "any".

For my high elf fan supplement it will be very helpful to know.

Thanks

They have 4 in total, Order+ 3 others. IIRC the Master Wizard has 2 focus + 1 reputation and the battle wizard has either 2 focus + 1 tactics or one each of focus reputation and tactics.

God bless you!

I can complete my tier 4 high elf mage spellcaster.

I can keep on asking for ever...just one more :P

Are there similar non-caster careers with 4 and 5 talent slots?

Cheers

IIRC no. I'll check to make sure when I get home, but I think the caster classes are the only careers at this time with more than 3 talent slots.

There are also no Tier 5 (epic) careers other than the Wizard Lord and the Arch Lector, the other careers have to make do with Tier 4 (elite). EDIT: This means that if there are non-casters with more talentslots than 3, they will max out at 4.

The non-caster Tier 4 that I can remember are:

Champion (fighter type)

Magistrate (Social leader/noble)

Crime Lord

Vampire Hunter (Elite witch hunter)

I would love to hear about the special gifts for the different regions of the empire and of the dwarfs :)

I suspected it! since the Preceptor is a tier 4 non-caster career with only 3 talents slots.

Man, you helped me a lot! I let you rest and I go to prepare some more careers for my elves.

May later I bother you a bit more :)

Cheers

How many Creation Points the Halfling and Ogre have? 20 like all non-humans?

IIRC, yes.

So, nothing for dwarfs or elves?

Are there other careers of tier 3?

Hey Glorian Underhill

Now that I have finished my elfs project I wanted to do a kind of POD for dwarfs which will include all the runes that are missing plus a few careers, like the Deamon Slayer, Master Runesmith, Runelord...

I have seen that you have a whole blog about dwarfs, so may be you want to do it instead lengua.gif

Hell, maybe I can help you with the runes. :) All runes could be a problem, it depends on the source. BFP has a list, and the 1st and 2nd Edition has a list plus the different Warhammer Army Books. Maybe rules for the list in the BFP Book of Grudges is enough.

An analysis of the current runes has been made by me here:

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?efid=149&efcid=3&efidt=567562&efpag=0#568070

Carrers for the Runesmith, Engineer, Slayer shouldn't be a problem. But I'm not realy good at editing grafics and shapes onto these Strange Eon stuff.

But for my german adventure conversion from DSA to WHFRP I'm building some dwarven items. Have a look here: vierzwergeundeinhund.blogspot.com/2012/03/abenteuerkonvertierung-das-schwarze_09.html

The Art is from a dwarven skyrim mod and I have the permission of these guys and the artist.

And as for my girlfriends dwarf cleric I use this career card:

My memory is flawed it seems. The Elite careers in hero's call do have 4 talent slots.

Sorry about the confusion.

All humans have the same number of CP, Wounds and Corruption thresholds, other than that:

Ostlanders count their mental characteristics as one higher for the purposes of stress, and reduces Fear and Terror against Chaos.

Ostermarkers get 1 fortune dice on any attack vs. anything with a Fear or Terror rating and attacks targeting outnumbered Ostermarkers gain 1 misfortune dice

Hochlanders get 2 fortune dice on Init. in the countryside and gets 1 expertise dice instead of 1 fortune dice when spending fortune on ranged attacks

Talabeclanders gets the same for Nature Lore checks and gain 1 fortune dice on Observation in rural settings.

Stirlanders have to pay more for starting cash but reduces Fear and Terror against undead and gain Invigorated when undead are nearby,

Middenlanders can add his Agility to his defense once per session, and any attack that targets beastmen gain [boon, boon] +2 damage.

Averlanders can remove stress or fatigue by slaying greenskin (non-henchmen only), their horses have +1 S as well.

Wissenlanders roll 1 expertise dice after any action on which they spent fortune, if they roll a comet they gain 1 fortune point. They can also ignore 1 bane not cancelled by a boon.

Nordlanders get 1 fortune dice on handling a boat, ship, working ropes or swimming, they also reduce the effects of bad weather by 2 misfortune dice.

Dwarfs all get grudge, sturdy and night vision

Zhufbarians(ites?) get to train Discipline or Resilience for free or can aquire Tradecraft or Dwarf engineering for free.

Barak Varrians get to train Charm, Dis or Res for free and adds one success to Charm and Guile roles involving haggling.

Karaz-Karakians are even more grudgeful and gets it against people who have taunted or insulted him and can suffer stress to get additional fortune dice. they also ignore the first stress and the first fatigue each session.

Nope. Then again, the Ogre only gets the Maneater basic career and the Halfling gets the Chef basic career, and they live in the Empire, imagine how THEY must feel.

No, I think I've listed all of the new careers in this thread now ;)

@Sebeshaw: Some of my response to you seem to have gotten caught inside the quote, here it is outside it: No new careers for Dwarfs or Elves. Then again, the Ogre only gets the Maneater basic career and the Halfling gets the Chef basic career, and they live in the Empire, imagine how THEY must feel.

Thanks everybody for the updates!

Any thoughts on the action cards? Anything looking pretty sweet?

I have some favorites. Not Done Yet, which allows you to hold of on dying until the fight is over...suitably epic. I also like the Manann blessing that allows you to count yourself as a large body of water for the purposes of Manann blessings.

I am a little dissapointed by the lack of mundane high rank actions. Each faith/order gets two rank 4 and one rank five spell/blessing and there are a total of 11 mundane actions that are not monster actions. Of those 11, one is only usable by Ogres, three are advanced versions of the dodge/block/parry and two are enhancements (one for social and one for melee). I get that it's difficult to imagine epic mundane attacks, but still...

Can you insight me on new Priest careers (main stats, talent slots, ect.)?

HELP ME!

In my group I have a flagellant/prophet of doom, a witch hunter captain, a light mage and I priest of Sigmar.

Every character is already of 5th rank so I had to create my own home made career for the abovementioned characters.

I ll be glad if anybody will be so kind to send me ([email protected]) detailed information about 4th and 5th rank careers for my players.

The most important thing would be to know the career special abilities.

I care less about the career sheet because I think I already got (more or less) the correct characteristic and skills.

I want to underline the fact that I preordered Hero's Call from Maelstrom games since October but I think it will take at least another month or two to get it.

Because my campaign will end in June everybody can understand why I m quite in a hurry.

HELP ME!

Lector uses Willpower and Fellowship and has Faith, 2 Focus and Reputation talent slots

Warrior Priest uses Strength and Willpower and has Faith + one of each of the major types of talent slots

Arch Lectors use the same stats as Lector and has Faith, one each of the major talent slots + a special "Any" talent slot.

I will say that despite my complaints about the lack of mundane actions in the box the Talents had a better spread. The faiths and orders got new shiny talents that could be purchased once you hit rank 4, and had some fun things, but there were a lot of other nice ones, one lets you convert a critical wound into a normal one and another lets you make a basic attack if you roll a comet on an attack.

There were also some miscast cards, higher rank spells could actually roll several chaos stars and if you draw one of these cards for three chaos stars you could lose a spell and for four you get sucked into the realm of chaos and die.

Maelstrom games seem to be very slow sometimes, but they are very cheap.

the warrior priest gets an expertise instead of a fortune dice when spending fortune on attacking with a weapon he is specialized in.

the lector gets favor equal to his rank once per session

the arch lector can reroll the dice for an invocation once per session, does not have to reroll all of the dice though.

the battle wizard gets +1/2/3 to his soak depending on if he is below/at/above equilibrium

master wizard works like the lector

Wizard lord like the arch lector

Vampire hunters ignore Fear of undeath

I have no idea what to do with the prophet of doom.

I hope I'm not spoiling too much here, if FFG thinks that I should restrain myself more hopefully they'll send me a message. Not like a horses head or anything, just an email would be nice ;P

A new question, if it is ok:

Which enemys can we find in Hero's Call. Some of the named ones were already shown, but what's about the hellpitabomination we saw as a picture? Is there a varghulf?
